The Jurassic Park franchise is one of the biggest in Hollywood history. First exploding onto the scene in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's triumphant box-office champion Jurassic Park, the film series continued with two sequels throughout the '90s and early 2000s before going dormant for over a decade. It then returned with a vengeance in 2015 with Jurassic World, which exceeded its iconic predecessor at the box office and subsequently produced two more larger-than-life sequels.

The Jurassic World chapter concluded with Dominion in 2022 but its success ensured that the franchise would continue beyond that. A new sequel titled Jurassic World: Rebirth was announced for the summer of 2025, and it has since added a very star-studded cast to its name. That cast includes Marvel icon Scarlett Johansson, Bridgerton sensation Jonathan Bailey, Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali, and Dead Boy Detectives star David Iacono.

Universal unveiled the first look photos of the film just a few months ago (after confirming the Rebirth subtitle). Now, a new look at the movie has been unveiled via Empire Magazine, which offers up a better look at Scarlett Johnasson's character.

New Jurassic World Rebirth still showcases Scarlett Johansson's character

A brand new still from Jurassic World Rebirth features a new look at Scarlett Johansson's character. The image, which debuts in Empire Magazine's 2025 preview, showcases her holding a weapon in what appears to be some very tall grass (and we all know how tall grass usually leads to some very bad things in this franchise).

There were also new details about the character revealed in the spread, including her name. Zora Bennett is an operative who leads an expedition hunting for dinosaur DNA. A former member of the military, she is searching for a new purpose in life and very much thinks that this could be it, but actually venturing out into the same world as dinosaurs soon raises questions that she feels she must ask - perhaps most importantly of all: Is she doing the right thing? And given that she seems like a good person, she quickly realises that what she's doing is morally and ethically wrong.

Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to playing strong characters. A veteran of the screen, she has enjoyed a long and successful career in sci-fi and action flicks such as Under The Skin and Lucy. Her most famous role, however, is undoubtedly that of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which she played from 2010 until 2021. It all started with a supporting role in Iron Man 2 and led to major roles in The Avengers and its three sequels, two Captain America movies, and finally her own film, Black Widow, which was released in 2021 as a send-off to the character. We can't wait to see her tackle Zora in Jurassic World: Rebirth, adding her name to another legendary franchise.

Director Gareth Edwards is known for bringing larger-than-life monsters to the big screen, having directed 2014's Godzilla - the first movie in the MonsterVerse - so the classic dinosaur franchise is no doubt in safe hands. He's also very good at teasing fans with what to expect from the upcoming seventh installment, telling Empire Magazine that the film goes back to what he loved about the original movie.

Jurassic World Rebirth is set for release on July 2, 2025, kicking off a very busy month for pop-culture fans and Hollywood itself, as DC's Superman and Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also release that month.
