There are few cinematic franchises as formidable as the Jurassic Park saga. It's a titan of film, dominating the box office landscape across six major movies that have entertained generations and changed the game for blockbusters. It all began in 1993's billion-dollar phenomenon Jurassic Park, and almost three decades later, it achieved similar levels of success with Jurassic World Dominion.

At the time, it was thought that Dominion would be the end of the story, as it brought about a close to the Jurassic World trilogy. But as one door closes, another one opens, as a seventh Jurassic Park movie is now in the works, with a surprisingly early release date set for 2025. And it looks like the franchise will be recruiting another major Marvel star to headline the project.

Scarlett Johansson officially in talks to star in new Jurassic Park movie

Scarlett Johansson could be about to return to the world of blockbuster franchises as she is officially in talks to star in the next Jurassic World movie. After weeks of speculation, The Hollywood Reporter officially confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe star could very well be set to join the production.

If those talks go well and the Black Widow star ends up in the movie, it would make her the second MCU star recruited for the Universal franchise. Chris Pratt, who enjoyed breakout success as an action hero in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, starred in 2015's Jurassic World with Bryce Dallas Howard. The pair then went on to lead sequels Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.

They aren't the only Marvel stars to appear in the franchise, either. Technically, original Jurassic Park stars Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill both went on to play roles in the MCU (both appeared in Thor: Ragnarok), while Jurassic World's Vincent D'Onofrio is renowned for his critically-acclaimed performance as Marvel's Kingpin in Daredevil and other series.

While Chris Pratt's Star-Lord is an important MCU character, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is one of its most pivotal as she is one of the founding members of the Avengers. She first played the role of Natasha Romanoff in 2010's Iron Man 2 (which was only the third MCU movie ever) before going on to become one of the shared universe's most significant characters, appearing in the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, all four Avengers movies, and finally her own solo outing Black Widow in 2021.

Needless to say, Johansson knows her way around a larger-than-life action flick, so she would be right at home in the world of dinosaurs that the Jurassic franchise has to offer. If she does indeed join the saga, it's safe to say that she will be an exhilarating star.

Jurassic Park 7 will be directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards and is set for release on July 2, 2025.
