Marvel star teases revival of beloved Disney Plus show: "We’ll end up doing season 2"

The MCU is not known for greenlighting second seasons of its Disney+ shows, but a Marvel star teases an exception to that rule.

Since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has captivated audiences with a thrilling interconnected storyline that spans countless films. However, the game was forever changed with the introduction of Disney+ and its potential to bring audiences even closer to the action. Characters like the Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ms. Marvel, and Loki were suddenly in our own living room, and, from the get-go, they have kept us guessing about what will happen in next week's episode. Unfortunately, this new media format hasn't been without its own difficulties.

Fans unanimously agree that some of the MCU Disney+ shows feel like a six-hour movie due to their poor pacing. Besides, many heroes and stories introduced on the small screen have yet to have any impact on the bigger picture. On the one hand, characters like Moon Knight and She-Hulk haven't been seen again after their debuts, and, on the other hand, the events of projects such as Secret Invasion have been widely ignored (which is probably for the better). To top things off, multiple series have been constrained to only one season and nothing more. Fortunately, there are a few exceptions to this rule.

Not only will audiences get new episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man next year, but the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will also make a return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. And if that wasn't enough, it seems another beloved MCU show will also be renewed, according to the star behind it.

Jeremy Renner is sure Hawkeye season 2 will become a reality

Jeremy Renner's MCU record is nothing short of impressive, with three Avengers movies under his belt, a role in Captain America: Civil War, and even his own stand-alone Disney+ series. As such, audiences are eager to learn when and where the star will make a comeback as Clint Barton, and we might finally have an answer.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Renner stated that he's "sure we’ll end up doing season two" of Hawkeye. As if that wasn't enough, he also revealed that he might appear in other projects as well:

"I’m always happy to be in that world, man. … I love all those guys, I love the character. I’m sure we’ll end up doing season two, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it."

Marvel has been planning to create a second season of Hawkeye for quite some time now. However, Jeremy Renner revealed those plans didn't initially come to fruition because he was only offered half the pay of the first season. Furthermore, the actor has also prioritized his health after a near-fatal incident in which he was run over by a snowplow. Slowly but steadily, he has been recovering from breaking 38 bones and having a collapsed lung, and he's now at the point where he's ready and eager to save the world yet again:

"My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights (...) I just feel stronger than I’ve been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed."

While the reveal that Hawkeye season 2 might become a reality is exciting in itself, we also need to remember that Earth's Mightiest Heroes will assemble again after a seven-year hiatus. Avengers: Doomsday is set to reunite different heroes from every corner of the multiverse, including the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. As such, it would be quite a shocker if Hawkeye—one of the few remaining original Avengers—was nowhere to be seen.

While Jeremy Renner wasn't a part of the official Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, Kevin Feige stated that the movie will feature more heroes than the ones confirmed so far. Besides, even if Hawkeye missed out on the events of Doomsday (as it happened with Infinity War), he should definitely be present when the Multiverse Saga comes to an end in Avengers: Secret Wars. Regardless of the case, it seems there will be a lot more of Clint Barton coming soon, and we couldn't be any more excited.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026
