Avengers: Endgame became one of the most ambitious movies ever made by bringing together almost every hero introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with very few exceptions (sorry, Vision). So, now that Avengers: Doomsday is on the horizon, fans have the same question in mind: How can the memorable 2019 crossover be topped? Well, by featuring even more characters, of course.
Multiversal frontiers are no more, and every hero who has appeared in any live-action Marvel project can make a comeback—even those that weren't originally part of the MCU. Variants from the original X-Men are confirmed to jump onto the big screen once more, while leaks indicate Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will steal the spotlight, too. With that in mind, fans are eager to learn which other Marvel veterans will join the fight against Doom, and we finally have a new name courtesy of two beloved Avengers actors.
Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth seemingly spoil Hulk's return in Avengers: Doomsday.
While playing "Who Even Am I?" for MTV UK, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo accidentally confirmed that the latter worked with Chris Evans over the past year in Avengers: Doomsday. That means Hulk will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes later this year, despite not being present in the official cast reveal.

Mark Ruffalo had previously denied his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, which raises some doubt about the Green Goliath's appearance in the upcoming MCU crossover. However, in the very same MTV UK video, Ruffalo also said he won't join Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though official merch has already debunked that statement. With that in mind, it seems we'll see the original Avenger join his friends from work soon.
It's important to remember that Chris Hemsworth's Thor was among the initial characters confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, so why did Marvel want to keep the Hulk's return under wraps? After all, the two characters are among the few original Avengers remaining whose return wouldn't be all that surprising. While there's no definite answer, it may have to do with Banner's upcoming transformation and the role he will play in the MCU moving forward.
Many reports indicate that we'll see Savage Hulk make his debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with the movie's official art indirectly confirming this. Savage Hulk is the most violent and relentless version of the Green Goliath in comic books, so chances are a similar scenario will occur on the big screen. Furthermore, it has been rumored that this arc will continue throughout the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Bruce Banner may act as an indirect antagonist to Earth's Mightiest Heroes, wreaking havoc across New York and potentially setting the events for the reported World War Hulk movie. As such, it comes as no surprise that Marvel is trying to keep its plans under wraps as long as possible, even going as far as trying to convince fans that Hulk won't be in Avengers: Doomsday.
It remains to be seen why Professor Hulk will lose his temper and transform into a weapon of mass destruction. Could The Hand be involved? Will Bruce lose someone close to him? Fortunately, it won't be long before we get some answers courtesy of the wall-crawler's upcoming movie.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
