When the Marvel Cinematic Universe was created, it had a unique and ambitious vision: To connect many different projects across the big and small screen and pave the way for mind-blowing crossovers to take place down the road. Eventually, that goal was achieved when the first Avengers movie premiered and assembled Earth's Mightiest Heroes after audiences met each of them on their solo adventures. Back then, it seemed like nothing would be able to top such a cinematic experience. However, fast forward a few years, and the team-ups we've seen are just bigger and better.
Deadpool & Wolverine proved that sometimes all audiences want to see is the right pairing of characters going on a whacky adventure. And while all eyes are set on Thunderbolts* to capture some of that magic, another, more current project might set up the foundation for an incredible team-up to come. It seems a friendship years in the making on comic book pages could finally make its way onto a live-action project, and we couldn't be more excited.
Daredevil: Born Again "subtly" sets up a crossover with Spider-Man
According to reliable insider Alex Perez, via The Cosmic Circus, Daredevil: Born Again "subtly" sets up a team-up between Matt Murdock and Peter Parker. However, such a crossover won't come to be until after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. This falls in line with a different report from the same source claiming that Spider-Man 5 will be an adaptation of the Devil's Reign comic book storyline, in which Daredevil and Kingpin are primary characters. Besides, it would also explain a very mysterious tease by Daredevil: Born Again's showrunner.

Dario Scardapane recently confirmed during an interview that audiences are "going to see a character [they] never thought [they] would" in the series. Furthermore, the wall-crawler himself was mentioned by the Kingpin in the second episode of the Disney Plus series, so all pieces are being set for Spider-Man and Daredevil to properly cross paths (with their hero costumes on this time around — unlike their brief encounter in Spider-Man: No Way Home).
It's worth remembering that the first season of Daredevil: Born Again sees Wilson Fisk rise to the position of Mayor of New York as revealed by the official trailer. When such an event happened on comic book pages, the supervillain bent the laws in his favor and outlawed every superhero in the city. As a result, major characters such as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, Miles Morales, Ben Reilly (who was covering for Peter Parker as Spider-Man), Luke Cage, and many others had to join forces to fight this new order. So perhaps something similar will happen on the big screen as well, with Matt and Peter stealing the spotlight this time around.
We can't forget how the Kingpin is also considered a major Spider-Man villain in the comic book world. However, we have yet to see the two cross paths on a live-action project. On the bright side, Wilson has recently appeared in no shortage of MCU series, including Hawkeye, Echo, and now Daredevil: Born Again. So it looks like his character will have a prominent role moving forward. So, at this point, it would be more shocking if he never meets the wall-crawler than if he does.
Fans have been petitioning for Tom Holland's next stand-alone movie to feature a street-level story instead of a multiversal adventure. Unfortunately, it seems that won't be the case — especially considering how Sony Japan teased Venom will make an appearance in Spider-Man 4. However, once the MCU's Multiverse Saga is over, it would be the perfect time to bring the wall-crawler back to basics. And what better way to accomplish that than allowing him to be the protagonist of a grounded adventure with yet another grounded hero in the form of Daredevil? Fans absolutely deserve to see the two of them swinging across New York's skyline, so fingers crossed their team-up takes place sooner rather than later.
Daredevil: Born Again streams new episodes on Disney Plus every Tuesday.
