Spider-Man 4 will feature this unlikely Marvel character, reports say
Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga has gotten the ball of momentum rolling again after a very successful 2024. The Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise didn't have the best 2023, so it needed to bounce back in a big way. It certainly did, with success stories like Agatha All Along and Deadpool and Wolverine ensuring it was back on form.
People are excited about the Multiverse Saga again, and a large part of that is down to this comeback. Throw in the fact that you have Robert Downey Jr. leading the two Avengers movies that will serve as the saga's conclusion, then you have a winning combination. I mean, we're talking Doctor Doom here, people!
Another title that has people excited about the MCU is Spider-Man 4. Now confirmed to be coming between both of those Avengers movies, the Tom Holland-led sequel will be directed by Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and it is expected to be one of the biggest films in the franchise. It also might feature an unexpected appearance (or a few), perhaps even including this character.
Scarlet Witch rumored to appear in Spider-Man 4
Wanda Maximoff's inevitable comeback could very well lead to a crossover with Spider-Man, it seems. According to Marvel scooper account Marvel Updates, the Scarlet Witch will make an appearance in Spider-Man 4, further solidifying the rumors that she is expected to play a major role in the final chapters of the MCU's Multiverse Saga. It doesn't say what kind of role she could play if she does appear, but it is one of the many reports claiming she will be involved in some of the franchise's major upcoming movies.
While the character hasn't been active in the franchise since her apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios has been teasing her return ever since. WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along made that apparent death much more ambiguous by confirming that even Agatha Harkness wasn't entirely sure whether the Scarlet Witch was dead or not. And with Wanda's son Billy now an active member of the MCU, it's only a matter of time until she resurfaces.
She is expected to return in or around Avengers: Doomsday while also potentially playing a major role in sequel Avengers: Secret Wars. As Spider-Man 4 is set to take place between both of those films, it actually would make sense that Wanda might appear in it - especially if Spidey's next installment is a multiversal adventure like the reports have suggested. What's more is that Wanda and Spidey are rumored to share a scene in one of the upcoming Avengers movies, so the fact that they could cross over in Peter Parker's own adventure isn't too hard to believe when you think about it like that.
Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Holland's heroes have briefly crossed paths before, standing against each other on opposite sides of the Avengers' civil war (in Captain America: Civil War) and teaming with each other against Thanos (in Avengers: Endgame), but they have not directly interacted. Given that both are already major parts of the Multiverse Saga - and are expected to play major roles going forward - it wouldn't be too surprising if they crossed paths (as unlikely a pair as they may seem).
The more Wanda in the MCU, the better!
Spider-Man 4 arrives in movie theaters on July 24, 2026.
