When we first discovered a new Batman would be joining the DC Universe, there were countless names that came to mind as potential dream picks for the role of the Dark Knight in James Gunn's new connected universe.

As early rumors suggested the new Batman would be around the same age as Superman, for months we've been discussing younger actors in their 30s and early 40s to take over the role of Batman from Ben Affleck. However, it seems DC might be looking for an actor who is a bit older than anyone expected.

In a recent interview, Milo Ventimiglia seemed to suggest that DC was looking for an older Batman after he revealed he wouldn't be going out for the part as he was "too young" for the role. Given Ventimiglia is 46, this seems to suggest DC might be looking to cast an actor who is going to be much older than their new Superman.

While no exact age range has been provided, we imagine if DC is looking to cast older than 40s perhaps they're looking for an actor in their 50s which would make the new Batman about 20 years older than David Corenswet's Man of Steel. This would also mean the new Batman could potentially be older than Affleck was when he first took on the role of Batman which will be interesting as we had been thinking it would be a younger actor to take over the role.

With it looking likely it'll be an older actor to replace Affleck in the new DCU, we've rounded up a list of six actors who should definitely be on DC's radar!
