A new era is set to begin for DC Studios, but don't expect to see these shows return for new seasons.

Doom Patrol season 4 concluded its run at the end of 2023 but don't be expecting it to return with new episodes this year or next year. Unfortunately, the show - one of the most recent DC TV shows to air new episodes - is simply the most recent in a long line of those 2010s DC TV shows to wrap up its run prematurely.

Before DC Studios was formed, the decision was made by Warner Bros. Discover to have a single, coherent DC Universe across all of film and TV. That meant that the ongoing shows, particularly those on WarnerMedia streaming service Max, had to go in order to make way for the new class. Though DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran received some of the initial blame for the cancellation of Titans and Doom Patrol, they confirmed that those decisions had already been made prior to their arrival.

And thus, the fourth seasons of both shows became their final seasons, as fans had to bid farewell to the beloved pairing that started on former DC streaming service DC Universe. Titans wrapped up earlier last year, while Doom Patrol bowed out in the fall, bringing an end to an era that was far too short-lived.

Doom Patrol became an unexpected gem of the early DC streaming TV era, earning critical acclaim right out of the gate. That, its star-studded and phenomenal cast, and the strength of the writing are just a few of the reasons why it deserved a better ending. But at least it got a mostly satisfying one.
