Harry Potter movies in order and where to stream them
The Harry Potter movies remain popular to this day, even though the very first one came out in 2001. The first film released in the series grossed $974 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing production that year! The franchise continued to grow with all the sequels, as well as the spin-off Fantastic Beasts movies.
Plus now for whatever reason, Max has decided to create a Harry Potter series with each season based on one of the seven books by author J.K. Rowling. The first season is expected to come out in 2025 or 2026. I think this is completely unnecessary with the eight movies we already have, plus the prequel films. But that's a different story.
Alright, so how can you watch all the Harry Potter movies in order? We are going to include Fantastic Beasts, which takes place in the 1920s, since those films include some familiar characters. We shared how to watch the Harry Potter movies in chronological order based on story below:
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”
- Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
If you'd rather check out the film series and its spin-off productions in order based on release date, then you can do that as well! We shared them below:
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - 2001
- Chamber of Secrets - 2002
- Prisoner of Azkaban - 2004
- Goblet of Fire - 2005
- Order of the Phoenix - 2007
- Half-Blood Prince - 2009
- Deathly Hallows – Part 1 - 2010
- Deathly Hallows – Part 2 - 2011

Where to stream Harry Potter
* Updated Feb. 27, 2024 - all eight movies will stream on Peacock starting March 1. Though it's very likely they will jump back to Max at a later date.
Though Warner Bros. Pictures, which owns Max, is the production company behind the films, for some reason there's some streaming rights deal between Max and Peacock. They sort of "share" the Harry Potter movies. This means that at times all eight films of the fantasy series stream on Peacock, then they are removed and all move to Max. And the productions keep switching back and forth between the two streamers.
As of Feb. 15, 2024, all eight Harry Potter movies are currently streaming on Max. However, it's not known how long they will remain on the platform before moving back to Peacock again. So be sure to check both streamers constantly. You can also purchase Max through Hulu or Prime Video as an add-on. The films are also available on Fubo TV, as well as rent or purchase options on platforms like Vudu and Google Play. But I think the best and easiest way to watch is through Max or Peacock.
