Marvel's original movie star rumored for stunning comeback in Deadpool and Wolverine

The cameos could keep coming in Deadpool and Wolverine, and this newest rumor suggests that dark days are ahead for the MCU (in a very good kind of way).

We've been here before with Deadpool and Wolverine rumors. The movie is set to be one of this year's biggest outings (probably the biggest, let's be honest) and one of the many reasons for that is the potential for cameos. Another installment in Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga, it will feature returns and appearances from many fan-favorites. Look no further than one of its title characters, as Hugh Jackman is back in his most famous role.

Logan isn't the only X-Men character making a comeback either, as the film's teaser trailers have confirmed that there will be appearances from Pyro, Lady Deathstrike and Azazel too, with their respective actors from the X-Men film series (Aaron Stanford, Kelly Hu, and Jason Flemyng) reprising their roles. And that's not taking into account the rumors that Jennifer Garner's Elektra could make a comeback, and Channing Tatum's potential cameo as Gambit.

Now, a new rumor has suggested that another major star will return in a cameo appearance.

Wesley Snipes rumored to return as Blade in Deadpool and Wolverine

According to Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Wesley Snipes is set to return as Blade in Deadpool and Wolverine. This comes after a rumor has persisted about a Blade variant appearing in the film, serving as the character's official debut in the MCU franchise. Insider Daniel Richtman also reported that Snipes has reportedly signed the contract to return at some point in the Multiverse Saga.

Snipes portrayed the iconic Marvel Comics vampire hunter in the Blade franchise. The first one, released in 1998, was considered a game-changer at the time because it was the first successful movie starring a Marvel character and a darker adaptation for its time. The sequels, Blade II and Blade: Trinity, were released in 2002 and 2004 respectively.

A dhampir who hunts vampires, Blade has made a career out of eradicating some of the most dangerous supernatural entities you could imagine. He's even gone up against Dracula himself, so needless to say he would be right at home in a movie as violent and extreme as Deadpool and Wolverine.

While Marvel has yet to confirm whether Snipes will actually appear or not, it is exciting to think of potential ways he could be involved. Like, for example, we know there will be a major showdown in The Void involving some warriors, so could Blade be among them?

A Blade variant could pave the way for the MCU's Blade

If the rumors of Wesley Snipes' Blade return do turn out to be true, Deadpool and Wolverine could pave the way for the MCU's Blade to debut. That's already happening, as Mahershala Ali will play the Daywalker in Marvel Studios' Blade. The movie is set for release in November 2025 and will officially introduce the world of vampires to Marvel Cinematic Universe audiences, so having the original version of the character appear could bridge the gap for fans to prepare them for what awaits them in the MCU's next chapter.

We've already seen the MCU set the stage for a number of its upcoming chapters with nods and references to the previous and/or non-MCU versions of those properties. From the multiple X-Men cameos and teases to John Krasinski's appearance as an alternate version of Mr. Fantastic (which made a long-desired fan-casting come to life), fans are now ready and prepared for the arrivals of the MCU's main X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

The same could be accomplished for Blade. While Ali has already made an uncredited voice cameo appearance in Eternals, the dark supernatural world of vampire horror that the character brings with him has yet to be explored in the MCU; having a cameo from Snipes' Blade in a property as "no holds barred" as Deadpool will undoubtedly begin to open the door to that world.

The possibilities that come with a Blade cameo are endless, but the idea of seeing Wesley Snipes back in his most famous role is probably the most exciting aspect of it. Here's hoping the rumors turn out to be true and it actually happens!
