Marvel reportedly cuts Captain America 4 star entirely

As the Captain America: Brave New World reshoots continue, it appears that Marvel is going in a different direction from its earlier vision.

It's safe to say that Marvel fans are ready to see more of Sam Wilson as Captain America. One of the best friends of the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, Sam carried on the Star-Spangled legacy when he agreed to take up the shield and the mantle going forward. After briefly deciding against it, he donned the stars and stripes in the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, officially setting the stage for his next chapter in Captain America: Brave New World.

The fourth Captain America film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will see Sam (Anthony Mackie) go up against some major threats, including The Incredible Hulk's villain The Leader. He's also expected to clash with President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (now played by Harrison Ford) as well as Giancarlo Esposito's new villain.

He was also supposed to clash with an organization that would have been led by a very familiar face, but according to reports, that will no longer be the case.

The Serpent Society reportedly cut from Captain America: Brave New World

According to a new report from Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the Serpent Society has been cut from Captain America: Brave New World. The movie is currently undergoing reshoots in Atlanta, and there has been a lot of speculation that the Serpent Society would be one of the aspects to be removed from the new version of it. This report seems to confirm that, which also means that WWE superstar Seth Rollins likely won't be appearing in the film after all.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was spotted on set during the film's initial production period, with fans speculating that he might be playing Klaus Voorhees, a.k.a. King Cobra. Considering the Serpent Society had already been rumored for the film, this pretty much confirmed it. That is until a number of Marvel insiders released reports earlier this year revealing that Marvel was planning on cutting the Serpent Society plot from the movie altogether.

They weren't expected to play a major role, but the above report reveals that Marvel decided to go in a different direction ahead of the reshoots, bringing in Giancarlo Esposito's unnamed character to potentially replace them. This does line up, because the esteemed actor was nowhere to be seen on-set during the initial production period, but he has been spotted on the set of the reshoots.

MyTimeToShineHello adds that he too only has two scenes in the movie as Marvel plans on having him play a more long-term role in the franchise. This could explain why he was drafted in so suddenly; did Marvel Studios fast-track their plan to introduce him and bring him in a bit earlier than planned?

Seth Rollins and the Serpent Society could return in another MCU project

If you were hoping to see the Serpent Society make their MCU debut, there is some good news, as the report also reveals that the team will play a much bigger role in a different project, also teasing that the final battle of that project will be much longer; suggesting that they could be the primary antagonists in that one. Whether or not Seth Rollins returns to front them again remains to be seen, but it would be a missed opportunity if Marvel Studios didn't make it happen.

Rollins has enjoyed a tremendous career in WWE over the past 15 years. He initially debuted as a member of the faction known as The Shield before initiating its downfall two years later. As the villainous Architect, he made history by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase in the main event of WrestleMania 31, earning himself the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He has since evolved into a huge fan-favorite, with fans always singing his entrance theme back to him.

With his charismatic and dramatic persona as Seth "Freakin'" Rollins in WWE, he would be the perfect fit for the world of the MCU, so let's hope that whenever the Serpent Society does surface he is still leading the charge.

As always, it's important to take any Marvel rumors with a grain of salt, but as this one has been gathering steam for sometime now, it wouldn't be too surprising if it turns out to be true.
