It sounds like Spider-Man could finally cross paths with the character we've been waiting to see him face-off against in the MCU.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe builds towards the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga, every title counts. That's clearer than ever this week, as it has been revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing Spider-Man 4, with Tom Holland and Zendaya set to reprise their roles as Peter Parker and MJ too. He's no stranger to the MCU, having already directed the action-packed game-changer Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and he will return for its sequel as well. To say excitement is at an all-time high would be an understatement.

There have been a lot of rumors about the fourth Spider-Man movie, particularly what kind of movie it will be. There are expectations that it could attempt to recreate the success of its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, by being a multiversal film, while other reports claim it will be more of a street-level Spider-Man story, launching the new trilogy with a new approach.

It sounds like this new report suggests the former could be more likely, and if it comes to fruition, it would be an absolute game-changer, without question.

Tom Hardy's Venom rumored to appear in Spider-Man 4

According to a new report from scooper account HWScoops (via: Marvel News), Tom Hardy will appear in Spider-Man 4 as Venom. The report also claims that this will be one of two appearances for him in the MCU, with the other being in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Needless to say that if this turns out to be the case, it would be a game-changer. Hardy's Venom is a part of the Sony Universe of Spider-Man Characters, starring in his own trilogy (which will conclude this year with Venom: The Last Dance). Having him cross over into the MCU would have major repercussions on the franchise, but if there was ever a time to do it, it would be in the Multiverse Saga - especially ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars.

If it does happen, however, it wouldn't be the first time that Hardy's symbiote has appeared in the MCU, as his Eddie Brock made a cameo appearance in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home when he appeared at a bar due to Doctor Strange's spell. He quickly returned to his own universe, but not before accidentally leaving a part of the symbiote behind.

That right there could have major implications on the new Spider-Man trilogy, as the MCU has yet to adapt the Venom story with Peter's involvement. Could the symbiote find its way to him? Previous rumors suggested that the symbiote would create a new Venom for this franchise specifically, but now it sounds like he could be crossing over with the cinematic Venom instead. What a moment it would be!

Ever since Sony launched the Venom trilogy in 2018 and explored the Spider-Verse in animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse fans have been hoping that the franchise would one day cross over with the Marvel Studios franchise. Anything can happen in the Spider-Verse, right? That certainly appears to be the case.

With the Venom movie series coming to an end, now would be the perfect time to introduce Eddie and symbiote into the MCU. And having him be one of the many cameos in Avengers: Secret Wars would be the icing on the cake. If anything, we just need to make sure that Tom Hardy and Tom Holland share the screen at least once. Make it happen, Sony and Marvel!
