The Multiverse Saga is building towards Avengers: Secret Wars. It might make some major stops along the way, including The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, and possibly even Spider-Man 4, but Secret Wars is the endgame, destined to bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe some of its most game-changing moments yet. That's a certainty.

Fans are already predicting a multiversal war, as the heroes from around the multiverse will likely band together to stop the threat of Doctor Doom, played by none other than MCU legend Robert Downey Jr. Expected to be a variant of Downey's original MCU character Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, Victor von Doom is the new big bad of the Multiverse Saga, and audiences are ready to see him make his presence felt on the Marvel Studios shared universe.

Big cameos, returns, and special appearances are expected from the film, as Marvel will no doubt look to rival their own era-defining Avengers: Endgame, which featured one of the biggest battle sequences in cinema history, paying tribute to its own Infinity Saga. This will be the Multiverse Saga's version of that. And there are some big names rumored for it, with one in particular now coming up a bit more regularly.

Evan Peters rumored to be discussing an Avengers: Secret Wars return with Marvel

According to Marvel scooper account Marvel Updates, Evan Peters has had conversations with Marvel Studios about returning as Quicksilver in Avengers: Secret Wars. The actor has been attached to the franchise's Multiverse Saga-closer for sometime now, with previous rumors suggesting that Quicksilver could indeed make an appearance at some point throughout the saga.

Peters portrayed Peter Maximoff, a.k.a. Quicksilver, in the Fox X-Men movie series, debuting in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and returning in X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Deadpool 2 (in a cameo appearance). If he were to return as the character in Avengers: Secret Wars, it wouldn't be the first time he was involved in a Marvel Studios project, as he made a surprise appearance in Disney Plus' WandaVision, which led us to believe that he was reprising his X-Men role, when in fact he was merely a man named Ralph Bohner that Agatha Harkness enchanted to trick the Scarlet Witch. Rumor has it that he might return as that character in spinoff Agatha All Along.

Speaking of Wanda Maximoff, there already was a version of Quicksilver in the MCU, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Pietro Maximoff, the brother of the Scarlet Witch, who was sadly killed by Ultron. Due to the way that the character's movie rights worked, both Marvel and Fox were allowed to use him in their respective franchises, which explains why there were two versions of the character.

If Peters were to actually return as Quicksilver in Avengers: Secret Wars, it would be a heck of a full-circle moment for the Multiverse Saga. WandaVision was the first title in the saga and it had us all believing Peters was portraying his version of Quicksilver, so it would be pretty appropriate for the saga to end with an actual appearance from the X-Men star.

It would also be a feasible return, because the MCU has begun welcoming the X-Men into the franchise thanks in no small part to the beauty of the Multiverse Saga itself. Look no further than this year's Deadpool and Wolverine, which brought back the X-Men star, Hugh Jackman in his iconic role as Logan. And then there is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which brought back Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier.

It's always important to take any Marvel rumor with a pinch of salt, but there is no denying that Evan Peters making a return as Quicksilver isn't just possible, it's likely. The star has worked with the studio in recent years on a role that was parallel to his Quicksilver persona, and the franchise has confirmed that the X-Men are on their way to the MCU in the next era. What better way to set that in motion than with some of the most popular X-Men of the previous generation getting involved one more time?
