Major Disney Plus star confirms he's "not involved" in Deadpool 3

Deadpool and Wolverine will feature many cameo appearances but you shouldn't expect this actor to be one of them.

Marvel Studios is set to stage a triumphant return to the silver screen this summer with Deadpool and Wolverine; a film that is set to bring multiple fandoms together due to its multiversal plot. It's the third Deadpool movie, coming five years after the second, while also incorporating the character into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A multitude of cameos are expected too, simply because this film is set to be one of the most imperative titles in the MCU's ongoing Multiverse Saga. With that, audiences are prepared to see some familiar faces from the franchise, but also from Fox's X-Men movie series. There was also a rumor that Taylor Swift herself might make a cameo in it (although that reportedly won't be happening after all).

Another name that came up in the various rumors and reports over the past year is the star of a huge Disney Plus show, but it sounds like that may not be happening after all, either.

Percy Jackson's Walker Scobell won't play Kidpool in Deadpool and Wolverine

Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Walker Scobell has seemingly confirmed that he won't be appearing in Deadpool and Wolverine. Over the past year, a number of rumors or reports suggested that he would cameo as Kidpool in the film (one of the many variants of Deadpool throughout the multiverse) but it sounds like that may not be the case after all.

Speaking during an appearance at Superhero Comic-Con in San Antonio, Texas (H/T: Agents of Fandom), the star told fans that he is "not involved" in the Marvel Studios film, telling people that he is excited to see it as a fan. He commented:

"I’m not involved, as of now, but I’m excited."

The "as of now" appears to be the indicator there. This isn't the first time that the young actor has addressed the rumors, telling ComicBook.com last year that he isn't in the movie. However, there would have likely been time for him to film an appearance between then and now, so fans are speculating that the "as of now" confirms that it ultimately didn't happen (whether there was ever a conversation about it or not).

The reason that fans loved the idea of Scobell playing Kidpool is down to the fact that he already played a younger version of a Ryan Reynolds character before, as the two co-starred as two different versions of Adam Reed in 2022 Netflix film The Adam Project (which also happened to be directed by Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy). Naturally, it would have made him the perfect choice to play Kidpool, too. Two versions of Wade Wilson played by actors with already-established chemistry for that kind of dynamic? Yes, please!

Speaking with ComicBook.com last year, the young actor told the outlet that he wasn't in Deadpool and Wolverine (which hadn't unveiled its official title at that point) but that he he is "hoping to reunite" with costars Reynolds and Owen Wilson in the future (there are also rumors that Owen Wilson could reprise his Loki role as Mobius M. Mobius in the upcoming MCU film but that has yet to be confirmed).

Scobell stated:

"Not that I know of, but I learned a lot of valuable lessons from them that I used while filming Percy Jackson. And, um, yeah, I'm not sure—I'm hoping to reunite someday, but I don't know."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians very quickly turned into a phenomenon for Disney Plus, becoming one of its most popular shows of 2023 (which says a lot considering it was released so late into the year). It was promptly renewed for a second season and is set to commence production in August.

For now, it sounds like we won't see Scobell appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. It's entirely possible that he is simply emulating Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man: No Way Home method of denying all rumors to keep the excitement alive when he actually did have a substantial role in the film, but it's probably best to keep your expectations low just in case. Kidpool is expected to appear, it's just a matter of whether Scobell will be playing him or not.
