The long-awaited trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day (debuting July 31, 2026) was a dream for movie fans. It showed all of the action, drama, and cameos that were promised and more. However, it was something special for people who love the source material.

Throughout the trailer, there were moments that came straight from Marvel Comics. For example, there was a nod to Spidey battling the Tarantula on the cover of Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man No. 30. Most notably may have been the cover of Amazing Fantasy No. 15, when Spider-Man is swinging through the city with someone in his arms.

The two moments above are the most noteworthy. After a couple more looks at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, two other Marvel Comics storylines may take place in this movie. Those being Spider-Man: The Other and Spectacular Spider-Man: Under My Skin/Disassembled.

During Spectacular Spider-Man, Peter Parker became the obsession of a woman called Adriana Soria, aka Spider-Queen (or just The Queen), thanks to his insect gene. Eventually, the kiss she gives him begins his metamorphosis into a giant spider. After breaking free of her control, Peter bursts through the spider shell as if it were his rebirth. Spidey says the resurrection of sorts replaced his old instincts and made them better. It also gave him organic webbing.

During The Other, one of Spider-Man’s deadliest foes, Morlun, returned from the dead to feast on Peter Parker’s essence. Before he could get the chance, Peter’s animalistic side killed Morlun before he could murder Mary Jane. Sadly, this led to Spidey's death. However, this was short-lived because Peter went through another resurrection and came back stronger, faster, with a heightened Spider-Sense and poisonous talons.

How does this connect to Brand New Day?

One thing is for certain is that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will come from a cocoon of webbing, stronger and with a heightened spider-sense. And, at some point, he will have blacked-out eyes. Both of these happened during the previously mentioned crossovers after he died. Granted, Peter’s eyes were red in The Other, but that’s a minor detail.

Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man has been built up to be among the strongest and most resourceful characters. He’s continuously beaten and outsmarted people when he was at a disadvantage. Now, it looks like he could be killed. At the very least, do something to cause the metamorphosis. The problem with that is it must be believable and hopefully connect to something in Marvel Comics. That brings us to another mystery in Brand New Day, Sadie Sink.

One of the biggest mysteries of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is who Sadie Sink (Max from Stranger Things) is playing. Because of her red hair, Jean Grey, Rachel Summers, and Sergeant Rachel Cole-Alves. After seeing the trailer, I’m starting to think that she’s playing The Queen or a version of Morlun.

The person seen with their back turned to the camera and holding their hands up is likely Sink’s character. Because one of the characters later says they’re fighting a threat they can’t see, and it appears the mastermind is controlling people, the best guess is that Adriana Soria is behind everything. She was the cause of one of Peter’s transformations and controls people who have insect DNA.

Of course, this is all speculation. Nevertheless, it all seems to connect.
