The Star Wars franchise has found itself at something of a crossroads. On one hand, viewers are still enjoying the multitude of TV shows that have been produced from that galaxy so far, far away for the Disney Plus service. But on the other, they are anticipating the franchise's return to the silver screen in the upcoming movies confirmed to be coming from Lucasfilm in the next few years.
Having these larger-than-life movie characters on the small screen has been a wild experience. Much like we have seen with Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe, we've gotten used to experiencing these huge figures on the silver screen that it's crazy to just watch weekly episodes with them on the small screen. But, as Obi-Wan Kenobi's return in the 2022 Ewan McGregor-led Disney Plus series confirms, anything is possible in the universe of Star Wars.
Speaking of which, another cinematic superstar is set to be making his long-awaited Star Wars return in an upcoming project and fans are convinced that he has just filmed some of those scenes.
Hayden Christensen cancels Comic-Con appearance in Manchester; fans believe it's for Ahsoka filming
Hayden Christensen will no longer be attending Manchester Comic-Con. The event is set to take place this weekend, but the Star Wars veteran is no longer able to attend. The official Comic Con Manchester account on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared the news with audiences, revealing that the actor "has night-time film shoots over the weekend of [the] convention."
Naturally, fans are speculating that he will be filming scenes for Ahsoka season 2, which is currently in production in England. He is already confirmed to appear in the show's sophomore outing, making the announcement back at Star Wars Celebration in Japan earlier this year, but it was unclear how much of a role he would play. The idea that night shoots might be required suggests that it might be a more involved role than in the previous season.

Christensen is known and adored by fans of the classic franchise for bringing Anakin Skywalker, a.k.a. Darth Vader to life in the prequel trilogy between 1999 and 2005. Although the movies have received something of a mixed response, his performance as the character has endured as one of the most iconic across the whole Star Wars / Skywalker Saga. Needless to say: His returns in both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka's first season were met with praise and acclaim. Thus, it goes without saying that his role in the second season will result in a similar response.
The involvement of Anakin in the Disney Plus shows sent the internet into a meltdown. This was one of the examples we mentioned earlier in which the involvement of these huge movie stars in the Disney Plus shows really blurred the lines between movie and TV, showcasing that Star Wars' stories on the small screen were equally as captivating as those on the big screen. And this is a lesson that is being taught the other way around now, as The Mandalorian and Grogu looks to bring the two most beloved characters from the Star Wars Disney Plus era to the big screen, showing us all what TV stalwarts are capable of.
We can't wait for that, just as we can't wait for Christensen's return in Ahsoka season 2. If he is filming scenes this weekend throughout the night, we can only imagine the epic scenes that await us in the show's heavily-anticipated second season.
Ahsoka season 2 premieres on Disney Plus in 2026.
