There are plenty of icons in the Star Wars franchise. From Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker, this movie series has expanded beyond its own horizons, spilling into the worlds of video games, comics, and in recent years even television. That's how legendary Star Wars is.

Lucasfilm has taken some time to figure out what to do with the franchise's future on the silver screen after the conclusion of the iconic Skywalker Saga (which produced nine films across 45 years) and the Disney Plus shows have allowed it to do that. The irony is that the juggernaut's next installment, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is set to bring Star Wars' most beloved TV characters to movie theaters.

But that's not the only offshoot that The Mandalorian has produced, as one of its returning spinoffs is reportedly about to include one of the biggest Star Wars characters of all time - one who is very familiar with the Disney Plus streaming service.

Ewan McGregor rumored to appear as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Ahsoka season 2

It sounds like we could be catching up with an old Star Wars favorite sooner rather than later. According to prolific industry insider Daniel Richtman, Ewan McGregor is set to appear in Ahsoka season 2, reprising his legendary role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. There aren't any details yet on how he could appear, but it's definitely a possibility given that Ahsoka already pulled off one of the biggest Star Wars surprises of the past decade.

The show's first season, which premiered on Disney Plus in 2023, saw Hayden Christensen reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, a.k.a. Darth Vader, and to say that it sent the fanbase into complete meltdown would be a major understatement. Seeing him again after all those years was quite the experience, and it added even more of a must-see quality to the series that was already so anticipated in the months and year leading up to its premiere.

Needless to say, seeing Ewan McGregor back in the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second season would be equally as major. He and Christensen starred in the same Star Wars films as both were a part of the prequel trilogy, with McGregor appearing in all three (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and Episode III – Revenge of the Sith).

He also returned to the role for the first time in almost 20 years when he headlined the Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi, which streamed in the summer of 2022 and became the one of the platforms biggest ever hits. Although it was very much portrayed as a miniseries, there have been reports of an inevitable second season, and McGregor himself has shown interest in reprising the role again.

Whether Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 happens or not, the idea of seeing the character on our screens in any project is extremely exciting. If that project is Ahsoka season 2, then we will happily await its arrival.
