The new DC Universe is continuing to grow, and 2026 will be no different as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will arrive in movie theaters as one of the franchise's upcoming installments. This year's Superman will pave the way for the Girl of Steel's arrival, but it's safe to say that fans are ready to keep up with the Kryptonians in the near-future. And that includes seeing them take on some of their greatest foes.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are overseeing the DC Studios franchise, which they have promised audiences will pay tribute to the DC Comics, providing faithful storylines that comic book fans will love. And given that Supergirl's subtitle comes from a beloved comic series, audiences are expecting a great deal from that one.

One character who we know will appear in the movie is Lobo, and he will be played by none other than Jason Momoa. Now, we have out first look at him in the role.

Jason Momoa suits up as Lobo in Supergirl set photos

The first look at Jason Momoa's Lobo in the DC Universe has been revealed, and it comes from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow itself. The film has been in production since January but in recent weeks, a number of photos (along with some footage) have made their way online. This first led to fans getting their first look at Milly Alcock suited up as the Girl of Steel, and now it has led to them seeing Momoa suited up as Lobo for the first time.

The photos (which can be viewed here in a tweet) aren't the best quality due to the distance from which they were taken, but you can clearly see Lobo in action, with Momoa sporting what is undoubtedly a very comic-accurate look. To say that the star looks badass would be an understatement, and it has only increased excitement for the inevitable official looks that will be released in the near-future.

Momoa is pretty familiar with the DC Universe. The star was one of the main players in the previous DC Extended Universe, portraying Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman. As a regular of the DCEU, he appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Aquaman (which went on to become the highest-grossing DC movie of all time), Zack Snyder's Justice League (the 2021 director's cut of the aforementioned 2017 movie), Peacemaker, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

There was hope that he would reprise his role as the King of Atlantis in the new DCU film series, but once the rumors about his re-casting as Lobo instead first surfaced, it became clear that this wouldn't be the case. It was eventually confirmed by Momoa himself which, although bittersweet, had fans excited to see his version of the alien bounty hunter. For good reason, too, as Momoa certainly looks the part, with his resemblance to the iconic character placing him on many Lobo fan-castings over the years.

Now we'll get to see him in action, and based on the first look, we're in for one heck of a comic-accurate, badass portrayal of the character.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow releases in movie theaters on June 26, 2026.
