Supergirl is soaring higher than ever thanks to her own standalone film. After having a small cameo appearance in last year's Superman, Milly Alcock's Girl of Steel has taken the spotlight for herself in Supergirl - an intergalactic adventure that simultaneously acts as the second-ever film in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe.
Superman, played by David Corenswet, also guest stars in his cousin's standalone adventure. Furthermore, audiences were also introduced to Jason Momoa's iteration of Lobo. This is a big superhero spectacle that pulls no punches and will have audiences wondering: Where and when will we see more of Supergirl?
The new DCU is just getting started, but there are already many exciting projects on the horizon. Next on the slate is Lanterns, an HBO Max show that will see Hal Jordan and John Stewart investigate a murder on Earth that might be part of a much bigger (and very twisted) extraterrestrial conspiracy. After that, audiences worldwide have a date with Matt Hagen, a Hollywood superstar who suffers a horrible accident that will lead him to become the infamous Clayface. Last, but certainly not least, we'll watch the Superman sequel titled Man of Tomorrow, in which Supergirl is also set to appear.

Supergirl is set to have a "big role" in Man of Tomorrow, as revealed by James Gunn
During an interview with Extra TV, Superman director and DCU Co-CEO James Gunn revealed that we'll see more of the Woman of Tomorrow, fittingly enough, in the sequel to Superman titled Man of Tomorrow:
"I've liked a lot of the iterations of Supergirl. I think Helen Slater was great; all of them really have been great versions. But I do think that this Supergirl is apart because she's not so much like Superman. She's very, very different from her cousin, which puts them at odds, which is a big part of this movie [Supergirl]. And then an even bigger part of Man of Tomorrow, which we're filming now (...) Milly's got a big role in that one."
The DCU is barely starting, but it already feels like Man of Tomorrow will be one of the biggest movies of its first chapter, Gods and Monsters. The anticipated sequel will finally introduce Brainiac to the big screen, who is a highly intelligent cyborg set to be portrayed by Lars Eidinger.

The arrival of this new, terrifying threat will force Superman and Lex Luthor to work together despite their complicated history. Furthermore, with Supergirl's appearance, it's all but confirmed that audiences are bound to experience an explosive entry in the DCU.
Without going into spoiler territory, the ending of Supergirl gives us a good idea of what lies in store for Kara's future and what her relationship with Earth will be like going forward. So it will be interesting to see how she reacts to learning that her new home is threatened to be destroyed yet again—except this time it would come at the hands of one of the most intelligent beings across the cosmos.
Filming for Man of Tomorrow started back on April 17 in Atlanta. So far, set pictures and videos have given us a good look at Lex Luthor in his Warsuit, and a tease of a big fight between him and Superman. However, most other details remain under wraps. For a time, it had been highly rumored that the DCU's version of Wonder Woman would be introduced in the film, although James Gunn has now denied that this will be the case. Still, it will be interesting to discover what other surprises lie in store.
Seeing as Supergirl was one of the first superheroes to be introduced in the DCU, she could have multiple surprise appearances in other projects. At the very least, we know she'll be in Man of Tomorrow, meaning it won't be long before she returns to the big screen.
Man of Tomorrow will be released on Jul. 9, 2027.
