The Star Wars saga may have been a titan of the silver screen for half a century, but in recent years it has become a titan of the small screen. The Lucasfilm juggernaut made its impression felt on the Disney Plus streaming service right from the very beginning of its existence due to the first episode of The Mandalorian premiering right along with the platform and it has continued to be a fixture of it in the six-plus years since.

Although Star Wars has seen a number of ups and downs on Disney Plus since, the most consistent TV performer has remained The Mandalorian - which is widely considered one of the streamer's most popular TV shows of all time. And now, star Pedro Pascal (alongside his beloved friend Grogu), takes Mando to the big screen in the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Here's everything you need to know about the film.

The Mandalorian and Grogu release date

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives in movie theaters on Friday, May 22, 2026. Although Lucasfilm and Disney Plus had originally planned a fourth season of the beloved TV series, the delays brought about by the WGA and SAG strikes made Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni reevaluate their plans, prioritizing a film adventure over a fourth season.

This is also reflected in Disney's overall push to bring Star Wars back to movie theaters. The Mando-Verse will continue on the small screen for the time being with Ahsoka season 2 still planned for release in 2026, but with Star Wars: Starfighter set to come out next year (and more Star Wars movies planned in the near-future), it's clear that the galaxy so far, far away is once again making itself at home at the movies.

The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer

The first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu was released back in September and it very quickly reminded audiences just how beloved Din Djarin and Grogu are. The clip, which runs for a respectable 1 minute and 34 seconds offered up a preview of what's to come in the speculator space adventure and it's nothing short of awe-inspiring.

A second trailer made its presence felt at the Super Bowl LX, with Disney and Lucasfilm unveiling it as part of the sporting event's annual ad spots. You can watch that one below:

All of the stars in the Mandalorian and Grogu cast

You won't be surprised to see Pedro Pascal headlining the cast of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Although he has become a worldwide superstar over the course of the past decade, it was his role as lone Mandalorian Din Djarin that catapulted him into the mainstream, with fans immediately falling in love with the noble bountry hunter and his little green friend. And yes, the creature affectionately known the world over as Baby Yoda is indeed returning for the big screen adventure.

But Mando and Grogu are joined in the cast by some familiar faces, including a Hollywood legend who knows a thing or two about space. With that in mind, let's dive into the full cast of the upcoming Star Wars movie:

  • Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian
  • Grogu
  • Sigourney Weaver as Ward
  • Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hut
  • Johnny Coyne as an Imperial Warlord
  • Dave Filoni as Trapper Wolf

Needless to say, there is a lot of excitement for the upcoming Star Wars movie, and we can't wait to see it when it arrives in movie theaters this summer.
