Two new Thunderbolts* trailers give us a better look at the movie's villain

Tickets are now on sale for Thunderbolts* and, to celebrate, Marvel released a brand new trailer highlighting impressive action stunts and The Void.

The wait is nearly over.

A formidable group of iconic heroes is bound to assemble on the big screen in what's set to be the biggest project to date in 17 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe history. Expectations are at an all-time high for these different characters to come together, face off in jaw-dropping action sequences, and eventually unite to stop one common threat. All eyes are set on this movie to raise the bar for superhero adaptations, and in 2026, we'll finally see if it delivers or not. But before Avengers: Doomsday premieres, audiences have a date with the world's worst group of "heroes" (given that every one of them has done very, very horrible things in their lives).

Yes, now we're truly talking about the Thunderbolts.

When the Avengers fail to answer the call, a group of misfits is all we'll have to protect us. Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, The Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Ghost, and Taskmaster (who'll definitely bite the dust) will be our last line of defense against a great new threat risking to destroy entire cities as a whole. On the bright side, it won't be long before we finally figure out if they will manage to save the world, even when all odds are stacked against them. Tickets for the Thunderbolts* are now officially on sale ahead of the movie's release. So, to celebrate the occasion, Marvel released a new trailer that gave us a better look at the MCU's next big threat: The Void.

The Sentry is one of Marvel's most powerful heroes ever created. As the trailer reveals, he's "stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one". He quite literally ripped Ares in half with his bare hands on comic book pages (and he did the same to many others, such as Carnage — so think of it as his signature move). Only overpowered characters such as Knull (who is a literal god) have been able to put up a fight against Sentry, which is great news whenever he is on the good side of history. Unfortunately, he has another force living within him known as The Void, which is a dark equivalent capable of destroying everything we know.

The Void will make his cinematic debut in Thunderbolts*, and there are many questions as to how Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's new team-up will be able to take him down. There were many fears that some members of the Thunderbolts wouldn't even be alive once the credits rolled. Fortunately, the official cast for Avengers: Doomsday revealed that almost every single one of them will be back on the big screen once again... except for Taskmaster, which shouldn't be a huge shock when considering her lack of appearances in trailers or promotional posters.

Aside from the "Tickets on Sale" trailer, Marvel also released the movie's final trailer, which gives us a better sense of the story arc that awaits the Thunderbolts. None of them considers themselves to be a "hero", but they will have to step up and fill that role given that no one else will suit up and stop The Void from consuming everything on his path.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway of the final trailer is the last scene, where Yelena Belova uses her acrobatic skills to dodge many obstacles in her way like a true Black Widow. Does it feel like her character is a bit "floaty"? Yes, but it's also an amazing sequence that highlights why such a skillful assassin like her may be perhaps one of the greatest characters in a team that, quite literally, has multiple super-soldiers in it.

We're less than a month away from finally getting to watch the Thunderbolts*, and the wait will undoubtedly feel shorter now that the tickets are finally on sale. But while we wait for the big day to come, we still have the finale of Daredevil: Born Again to watch — which is set to change the status quo of superheroes living in New York City. Isn't it a great time to be an MCU fan?

Thunderbolts* will be released on May 2, 2025.
