Since 2019, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has slowly built up its Multiverse Saga and shown us the dangers of wandering into other universes. Over six years' worth of projects later, and we're finally ready to watch the beginning of the end of this storyline courtesy of Avengers: Doomsday. There's only one little problem: There hasn't been a ton of setup for what's about to come, especially when we compare it to how the Infinity Saga worked.
While the Infinity Stones were slowly introduced one by one across multiple movies and Thanos had a few cameos before finally stealing the spotlight, we haven't had a full look at Doctor Doom yet, and only three movies have set up future incursions. The clock is ticking, which means that every project released from here until the release of Avengers: Doomsday could be one of Marvel's last chances at giving audiences a glimpse of what's to come. That's why a very unexpected show could prove to be the most instrumental yet.
Vision Quest will reportedly release between two major projects, hinting at its overall MCU importance
According to reliable insider Alex Perez (via a Q&A published on The Cosmic Circus), Vision Quest will be released in mid-to-late 2026, between Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. Not only would its placement alone hint that it will be an instrumental project moving forward, but the rumors surrounding its story also give us an idea of what to expect.

For starters, leaked Avengers: Doomsday concept art has revealed that the Young Avengers are bound to assemble in the movie (and likely play an instrumental part in it). The illustration shows Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Billy Maximoff, and Tommy Maximoff all reunited. While that prospect is exciting, there's one big problem: Tommy is still missing, and Billy is currently looking for him. So how will Speed be involved in the ultimate Marvel crossover if his whereabouts are unknown? Well, a certain Disney+ series could give us all the answers.
Alex Perez also revealed that Ruaridh Mollica will play the role of Speed in Vision Quest, which would also mean there's a chance we could see Wiccan and Agatha Harkness making an appearance in the show. This is just pure speculation on our side, but just like The Marvels ended with Kamala Khan recruiting Kate Bishop to join the Young Avengers, a similar scenario could be in store for Tommy and Billy during Vision Quest's post-credits scene.
There's no doubt that Doctor Doom will be the ultimate big bad of the Multiverse Saga. That being said, there's a chance that he won't wreak havoc in the MCU alone. Reports indicate that multiple villains audiences have already seen in the past will return for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, with Thanos being one of them. Well, wouldn't you know it, but one of them could make his grand return even sooner.
James Spader's Ultron is set to appear in Vision Quest, which would mark his first MCU appearance since the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015. Furthermore, he will be accompanied by Jocasta Pym, who could very well appear in Avengers: Doomsday as well.
Last, but certainly not least, we need to address the elephant in the room: In a show where Vision is set to make an appearance, and Agatha, Wiccan, and Speed could show up as well, could we finally discover the truth behind what happened to Wanda?

Everybody's favorite witch has been missing since the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she was crushed under rubble and "died". Despite this tragic event, both Marvel Studios President and Elizabeth Olsen have claimed that there's more to Wanda's story, so where has she been, or how could she return to life? Well, wouldn't you know it, but Vision Quest might hold the answers we've been eagerly looking for.
The Disney+ Marvel shows have earned a bit of a bad reputation for not being influential in the MCU as a whole. Secret Invasion was a self-contained story with wasted potential, and series like Moon Knight and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduced big characters only for them to never show up again in any subsequent project. Marvel might look to change this, and Vision Quest could be the perfect chance to do so. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long until we discover what's in store.
Vision Quest will be released in 2026.
