When Charlie Cox first brought Matt Murdock to life during the events of Netflix's Daredevil, the character mostly lived in an isolated bubble away from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, we eventually saw the Man Without Fear join forces with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Danny Rand on the small screen, but no member of the Defenders was ever part of the big crossovers like the Avengers movies. Fortunately, things have slowly but steadily started to change during the past few years.
Ever since Daredevil officially joined the MCU, we've seen him meet characters like She-Hulk, Echo, and Peter Parker. So now that there's a precedent set for Matt Murdock appearing in other projects aside from his own, we have to ask ourselves: Is there a chance that we could see him join Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Well, here's everything we know about a potential Daredevil appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.

Charlie Cox has stated that he isn't in Avengers: Doomsday
The official Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement unveiled a staggering 27 characters set to appear in the upcoming crossover, yet Matt Murdock wasn't one of them. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased that we'll see even more heroes by stating, "there's always room for more." Naturally, Daredevil wasn't present in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer reveals either, so the speculation has continued.
To determine whether Daredevil may make a surprise appearance, The Hollywood Reporter asked Charlie Cox himself whether he's involved in Avengers: Doomsday, but the actor unfortunately ruled out that possibility:
"Not me. I'm excited to see it but I'm not involved in that"
Furthermore, during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Charlie also doubled down on the idea that Matt Murdock will be nowhere to be seen in Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventure:
"As far as I know, no, I'm not in Avengers. But they haven't shot them yet, have they? I sit by the phone waiting with bated breath."
Granted, there's a case to be made that you can never take what Marvel actors say absolutely for granted. After all, Andrew Garfield stated multiple times that he wouldn't be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Harrison Ford denied knowing what a "Red Hulk" is, and Dafne Keen said that we wouldn't see her as X-23 in Deadpool & Wolverine. So there's a chance that we're facing a similar scenario yet again. Unfortunately, insiders don't support this idea either.

Multiple insiders agree that Daredevil won't have a role in Avengers: Doomsday
Spider-Man: No Way Home was a very intriguing scenario because—even though Andrew Garfield denied his participation in the movie multiple times—many insiders claimed he would definitely be in it prior to its release. Set photos showcasing all three iterations of Spider-Man even came our way sooner than expected, adding more fuel to the fire. However, with Daredevil, things are a little bit different.
Reliable insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) stated that The Defenders as a whole wouldn't appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which includes the Man Without Fear himself. Furthermore, renowned scooper Daniel Richtman doubled down on this idea by stating, "Too bad Daredevil isn't in Doomsday." To top things off, John Campea also shared the same sentiment.
With different sources claiming the same thing, it's hard to make a case for Daredevil appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. After all, it wouldn't make sense thematically either. Matt Murdock is currently in prison after the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, and we'll have to wait until the release of Season 3 next year to see the resolution to that storyline. However, Avengers: Doomsday will premiere in December of this year, meaning Matt is likely to still be imprisoned when the multiverse starts to collapse.
However, just because Daredevil isn't the best fit for Avengers: Doomsday doesn't mean we won't ever get to see him in a big MCU crossover.

Daredevil will reportedly appear in Avengers: Secret Wars instead
While insider Daniel Richtman claimed that Daredevil will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, they also revealed that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will be part of Secret Wars. With that in mind, it isn't far-fetched to assume that Marvel wants to replicate the formula that has proven to work before.
Avengers: Infinity War featured many iconic heroes, though fan-favorites such as Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel were notoriously missing. Granted, the latter hadn't had her MCU debut just yet, but in terms of timeline, she was one of the first ever superheroes to be active. Fortunately, these three characters had a pivotal role in Avengers: Endgame to compensate.
With Avengers: Doomsday acting as the prequel to Secret Wars, it isn't far-fetched to assume that Marvel will shine the spotlight on different groups of characters in both projects. Even Tom Holland's Spider-Man is rumored to miss out on the events of this year's crossover, which could signal that street-level heroes as a whole will not have a prominent role just yet. However, that could change when Secret Wars comes our way.
Charlie Cox's Daredevil has been an instrumental part of Marvel for over a decade, so it is definitely time to see him join Earth's Mightiest Heroes. With a bit of luck, this will finally happen next year.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
