Inde Navarrette has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Rogue in the next X-Men movie, and she's received a warm welcome from one of the hero's most iconic performers. Lenore Zann, who voices Rogue in the hit animated series X-Men ’97, took to social media to congratulate Navarrette on landing the role.
Zann's comment came after Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige announced that Navarrette would play Rogue at Disney D23. The latter appeared onstage before an excited audience to join her new co-stars: Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Maya Boyd, Samara Weaving, and Christopher Abbott. Zann has only added to the excitement over Rogue and the other X-Men appearing in the MCU.
Lenore Zann welcomes Inde Navarrette as Rogue
In an Instagram video, Zann congratulated Navarrette on landing the role of Rogue in the MCU. Speaking in Rogue's Southern accent, Zann said that she was looking forward to meeting Navarrette in person after returning from her trip to Dublin.
“Congrats from Dublin Inde Navarrette on nabbin’ the role of Rogue in Marvel ‘s upcomin’ X-Men movie !! Can’t wait to see what you bring to the role! Look forward to meetin’ ya, Sugah! Best of luck🍀 Hugs and High Fives (gloves on of course!),” Zann wrote in a caption.
Zann has long voiced Rogue in Marvel media since working on X-Men: The Animated Series in the 1990s. While X-Men '97 rebooted the original series with several new voice actors, Zann was one of the few original cast members to return to their iconic role.

Inde Navarrette goes Rogue after a surprising year
Before joining the MCU as Rogue, Navarrette was best known for her role as Sarah Cortez in the DC TV series Superman and Lois. Navarrette quickly became one of the world's most popular actresses after her breakout performance as Nikki Freeman in the 2026 horror movie Obsession. The film's success led to her meeting with director Jake Schreier about a possible role in the MCU's X-Men movie.
Following her meeting with Schreier, Navarrette said in an interview that her dream role in the X-Men movie wasn't Rogue but rather the shapeshifter Mystique. This statement implied that she had been secretly cast as the villain in the MCU.
At the same time, fans had expected Alien: Romulus star Cailee Spaeny to play Rogue in the MCU instead, based on a rumor shared by industry scooper MyTimetoShineHello. As a result, Marvel's casting Navarrette as Rogue surprised many audiences, with some expressing doubt on social media about her being the right person for the role.
Nevertheless, by congratulating Navarrette on her casting, Zann has given her a particularly meaningful welcome to a role that she had embodied for years. Given how well-known Zann is among X-Men fans, her support of Navarrette has made the casting even more impactful. Navarrette could put her own spin on Rogue in the MCU, but fans will have to wait and see what happens when the new X-Men make their cinematic debut.
The MCU's X-Men film premieres in theaters on May 5, 2028.
