It seems like for a while this summer, you couldn’t go more than a day or two without Arrow or The Flash making the news for adding another character from DC comics to their casts for the 2014-15 season. Though Arrow already showcased plenty of ties to its source material during its first two seasons, it appears the two best reasons to watch The CW are really going to be taking things to the next level this fall.

More from TV

So many heroes and villains have been announced that it’s been hard to keep track of them all. It’s almost like you need a scorecard or something. Hey, wait a minute …

That’s actually a really good idea. As a public service to our fellow comic fans, we’ve gone back and rounded up all of the confirmed DC character announcements for both shows and put them all in one place. That’d be right here, by the way. We’ll have to update it, most likely, as more heroes and villains are added to the mix, but we’re willing to do that. Call it a labor of love.

Please let us know in the comments section if we missed anyone (he said, knowing that would probably happen anyway). Here goes!

Confirmed DC Heroes and Villains in Season 3 of Arrow

  • Katana – Though Devin Aoki was originally going to play the role, a scheduling conflict has handed it to Rila Fukushima. In the comics, Katana was historically a member of the Outsiders, and a skilled martial artist with a sword called the Soultaker that takes the souls of those it kills. The New 52 incarnation of the character has been involved with the Birds of Prey and Martian Manhunter’s Justice League of America. On Arrow, she will appear in Season 3 flashbacks, serving as a mentor to Oliver Queen during his time in Hong Kong.
  • Ray Palmer / The Atom – Brandon Routh will portray Palmer, described as the new owner of Queen Consolidated and a technology-minded entrepreneur with a special interest in the company’s Applied Sciences division. It’s also been heavily suggested he may vie for the affections of Felicity Smoak. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Palmer will become the Atom this season, but if he does, he’ll likely mimic his comic counterpart’s ability to shrink while maintaining his full strength. The comic book Atom was a stalwart member of the Justice League for years during the Silver Age.
  • Simon Lacroix / Komodo – We’ll see this dangerous mercenary, played by Matt Ward, in the second episode of Season 3. An archer in the comics, don’t be surprised if he doesn’t have the same M.O. on the show due to the high number of people already slinging arrows around Starling City.
  •  Werner Zytle / Vertigo – Though there was already a Count Vertigo in the first two seasons of Arrow, familiar face Peter Stormare is joining the fun as a new Vertigo who may be more similar to the one in DC comics. There, he can disrupt the balance of other people and even mess up electronic guidance and detection systems.
  • Mark Shaw / Manhunter – Shaw will be played by David Cubitt, and since the show’s producers have already fooled us once by introducing and then killing off one character who became Manhunter in the comics (Kate Spencer), there’s no guarantee Shaw will end up with that code name. If he does, expect a very different back story than the one he had in print, where he was the human member of a primarily android galactic police force that later goes bad. Yeah, it’s kind of a long story.
  • Ted Grant / Wildcat – It sounds like the show will stick close to the original with Grant, a former boxing champion who now trains other people in the sweet science. It’s not clear whether we’ll see him in costume; it could be that Wildcat is simply a nickname. He’ll be played by J.R. Martinez.
  • Carrie Cutter / Cupid – Lots of people have had weird secret admirers, but not everyone gets a really dangerous stalker like Carrie Cutter. In the comics, she turns into Cupid, a super strong and severely unhinged villain with a deadly crush on Oliver Queen. We’ll see if Amy Gumenick takes Cutter in a similar direction when she appears in the sixth and seventh episodes of Season 3.
  • Ra’s al Ghul – The longtime Batman foe and head of the League of Assassins will be played by Matt Nable. While we won’t see him right away, it sounds like he’ll be confronting Oliver and company by the midseason break, and he’s been described in many places as the “Big Bad” of Season 3.
  • Digger Harkness / Captain Boomerang – Though traditionally a member of Flash’s Rogues, we’ll see digger first on Arrow, portrayed by Nick Tarabay. Described as an ex-ARGUS agent with a grudge, he’ll turn up first in the seventh episode and will also be in the eighth, which will be part of a crossover with The Flash.
  • Danny Brickwell / Brick – Noted former footballer and tough guy actor Vinnie Jones gets the call here. In the comics, Brick is like the DC version of Luke Cage, with unbreakable, super-durable skin. In the show, it sounds like he’ll get his moniker by surviving numerous shootings. He’ll also be a crime boss who will appear in episodes 10, 11 and 12.
