Confirmed DC Heroes and Villains in Season 1 of The Flash
- Eddie Thawne / Zoom / Reverse-Flash – Rick Cosnett has been cast as Thawne, a police detective with a “dark secret.” Given the history the Thawne name has in the comics, that secret will almost certainly end up with him either becoming or being directly linked to one of Flash’s arch-enemies: Reverse-Flash, Professor Zoom or Zoom, depending on the era.
- Ronnie Raymond / Firestorm – Robbie Amell, cousin of Arrow‘s leading man Stephen, will tackle Raymond, who on the show will be a S.T.A.R. Labs employee and the fiancée of Caitlin Snow. It’s been heavily hinted that he’ll turn into Firestorm on the show, though whether or not he’ll be a solo act or fuse with someone else like in the comics remains to be seen.
- Leonard Snart / Captain Cold – Prison Break alum Wentworth Miller gets this role, a primo one since Captain Cold is arguably Flash’s most iconic foe. Since the particle accelerator explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs seems to be the impetus behind most of the super-powered characters’ origins, expect to see Snart’s cold powers internalized like his New 52 comics counterpart temporarily had.
- Clyde Mardon / Weather Wizard – Hey, it’s the bad guy from the very first episode of The Flash, as played by Chad Rook. In the comics, Clyde is a scientist who discovers a way to control the weather but it’s his brother Mark who actually puts those abilities to use as Weather Wizard, a longtime member of the Rogues. Whether there’s a similar family handoff of the title on the show remains to be seen.
- Tony Woodward / Girder – Look for this gentleman, as played by Greg Finley, to appear in episodes six and seven of Season 1. It sounds like the show will stick close to the comic with Girder, giving him the power to transform his body into metal.
- Bette Sans Souci / Plastique – As the name suggests, this villainess likes to make things blow up. Kelly Frye will play her on TV as a Second Gulf War veteran who gains the power to make things explode by touching them — an ability that Plastique didn’t start with but eventually gained in the comics. Her Silver Age incarnation was briefly on the side of the angels, so that’s something to keep in mind.
- General Wade Eiling / The General – Either with or without super powers, this guy is just trouble. He tormented Captain Atom for years, then ended up transferring his brain into the body of the indestructible Shaggy Man, making him much less shaggy once he took control. Whatever they decide to do with him in the series, he’ll be in the capable hands of Clancy Brown, known as the voice of Lex Luthor in DC’s animated shows and features among many other genre roles.
- Mick Rory /Heat Wave – Another gentleman you might remember from Prison Break, Dominic Purcell, will play this member of the Rogues. As his name implies, he has heat-based powers that simply come from a nifty flamethrower and flame-proof suit in the comics but might also be generated from within on the show.
- Danton Black / Multiplex – Invented in a time before multiplexes meant large movie theater chains, Danton Black got his powers in the same nuclear accident that created Firestorm. He put them to use as Multiplex, so named because he could split himself into identical copies of himself. He’ll be played by Michael Christopher Smith.
- Hartley Rathaway / Pied Piper – Andy Mientus of Smash fame wil play one of the few openly gay DC villains, and while he reformed several times in the comics, it sounds like he’ll be a bad guy on the show. Look for him to be a former pupil of Dr. Harrison Wells who loses his hearing in the accelerator mishap, causing him to invent the Pied Piper’s sonic weaponry so he can get his revenge by taking out his anger on the Flash.
- Martin Stein / Firestorm – Just like in the comics, the TV version of Firestorm is going to be a fusion of two people. Raymond’s other half is Martin Stein, played by veteran actor Victor Garber.
- Ray Bivolo / Chroma – What, no Roy G. Bivolo and Rainbow Raider? Sigh … Anyway, this fellow will have powers similar to the Raider and the New 52 versions of Chroma, with mastery over light and the ability to make people feel emotions associated with certain colors. Paul Anthony will do the honors, and we’ll be seeing him in the first half of the Flash/Arrow crossover, which will be episode 8 of The Flash.
There are some bonuses on The Flash too:
- We’ve already been introduced to Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon on Arrow. Those are the civilian identities of Killer Frost and Vibe, respectively, in DC comics, and while they are going to be important supporting characters on The Flash, it’s unclear whether they will be manifesting powers of their own.
- Though not a metahuman, Simon Stagg will be making an appearance on the show, played by William Sadler. In the comics, he’s a businessman who figures directly into the origin of Metamorpho, along with having one of the most comic booky names ever.
