The folks at Gameloft told us female characters were coming to Spider-Man Unlimited, and they were true to their word. Spider-Girl is available now as the top reward in an event fittingly named “Girl Power.”

Of course if you picked up Amazing Spider-Man #9 this week and read the first chapter of Spider-Verse (and if you didn’t, you should, because it’s quite good), you probably have a very legitimate question: which Spider-Girl is this, because there are already two of them swinging around in that story.

Fair point. This Spider-Girl happens to be the one from Earth-982, which has an alternate history where Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson had a baby that survived but was kidnapped. After rediscovering May Parker thanks to Kaine, they raised her with the hope that she wouldn’t develop her dad’s powers. But she did, becoming Spider-Girl and starring in Marvel’s MC2 line of comics, where she proved popular enough to stave off cancellation on numerous occasions.

You can see May right now in Spider-Verse, where she looks like she’ll have a significant role. If you finish among the top five highest scores in your group of 1,000 players before “Girl Power” ends later this week, you’ll snare an Epic version of her first card in Spider-Man Unlimited. She’s also the top prize for today in Unlimited Mode, going to the nine highest-scoring players.

Don’t fret if you come up short, as Gameloft almost always makes new characters available as cumulative rewards and in special portals several days after they are first introduced. May is only the first female spider expected, as the game has already teased Spider-Gwen as well. Keep your eyes peeled for more Spider-Women to join the Spider-Men.
