Paul Bettany Says We’ll See Vision Again After Avengers: Age Of Ultron

As Tom Jones might say, it’s not unusual for actors in Marvel movies to sign multi-picture deals. In fact, it’s the norm. It’s always just a little tricky to figure out who’s signed for how many more films, and that’s definitely the case for Paul Bettany.

He’s already been the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark’s AI helper. As such, we’ve heard him in multiple movies already. Now Bettany is about to appear in the flesh for the first time in Avengers: Age of Ultron, albeit as the mechanical Avenger, the Vision. That could mean that the actor’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is soon coming to an end.

But it doesn’t sound like it. During an interview with News Australia, Bettany talked about how nice it was to know what the future held for him, which sure sounds like it means we’ll be in for more Vision:

"That’s the really great thing about the Marvel gig for me. I have never known if I have had a job six months out ever in my life. And now I know that they have plans and I can be even more judicious about the stuff that I do outside of that work. I can wait for the right thing and feel really attached to it."

Yeah, job security is great, and the MCU does offer some of that, unless the writers and producers are planning to kill off your character. Sounds like Vision will come through Age of Ultron in one piece, or at least few enough that Tony and company will be able to put him back together.

ComingSoon.net wonders if we’ll see Vision in Captain America: Civil War, and that seems like a good bet since the conflict between heroes will have stakes directly proportional to the number of heroes involved. Further down the road, he’s almost certain to be in or both parts of Avengers: Infinity War, with the first part looking increasingly likely if rumors of some of the team’s founding members being “off the board” turn out to be true.

Another interesting tidbit is that Bettany didn’t actually watch any of the previous Marvel movies when they came out. No worries though, as he’s since rectified that situation, and we won’t have to worry about him seeming like he doesn’t know what’s going on when Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out on May 1.

"I did a lot of research — and my research was watching all of the films. I realised they are so interlinked and I wanted to understand the universe I was in. So I did and it was a really amazing, fun experience — especially going from my tiny, 20-day movie with no money and no trailers to this behemoth film was just great.Everybody made me feel really at home and I have no bad stories — they are really funny people and really creative. I have never seen sets that big in my whole career. I have never seen set pieces like it — we were in a set that felt like a town."
