Review: DC Lego Superheroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League
While DC has a whole slew of animated films based on their characters, many of those really aren’t meant for little kids who might want to enjoy seeing Superman & Batman in action. Luckily for them, DC Lego Superheroes exist. The latest release in this series is Justice League vs. Bizarro League, which features an fun twist on most of your favorite Justice League characters. But is it fun for adults to watch as well or just something to keep the kids busy for about an hour?

So the basic plot of Justice League vs. Bizarro League is as follows: Bizarro was trying his best to be a hero, but he’s very terrible at it, often rescuing people that were in no danger in the first place and causing lot of property damage. Superman convinces him to move to another planet where he won’t really bother the people of Earth. But Darkeid starts attacking Bizarro’s Planet and he clones the Justice League to form his own Bizarro League to stop Darkseid.
The first thing you might notice about Justice League vs. Bizarro League is the top notch voice cast. You’ve got two megastars of video game voice in Nolan North & Troy Baker, John Dimaggio, Tom Kenny & Kevin Michael Richardson all in one movie. And the cast all seems to be having a good time and not phoning it one bit, which really helps with the level of enjoyment.
Secondly, while Justice League vs. Bizarro League is definitely meant for kids, I think it’s something adults won’t mind watching either. It’s a lot of broad strokes, but there are a lot of elements played very cleverly. Batman’s innate distrust of the alien Superman is taken to outright hilariously overboard levels, Guy Gardner is his usual cocky self. There are lots of fun meta jokes as well, mostly relying on the fact that the characters are actually made of legos and realize this. It’s nothing on the level of The Lego Movie or anything, but it makes for an enjoyable time.
Really the weakest point of Justice League vs. Bizarro League is the running time. At only about 48 minutes, there’s barely time to establish the story before the big fight with Darkseid gets underway, and that’s only a few minutes itself. I’m not saying this needs to be a 3 hour saga, but somewhere around the 70-80 minute range would’ve helped it feel less rushed. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something your kids will enjoy that not only won’t be painfully awful to sit through, but you might actually find yourself enjoying, DC Lego Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League is a perfectly solid option.
