A leaker on Reddit confirmed that Dylan O’Brien would be the next Spider-Man for Marvel. Another source agreed and everyone on Twitter went mental. That seemed to be that! However Latino Review’s big Spider-Man bomb may have put a dent into the Dylan O’Brien rumour by blasting it away with a more official sounding rumour!
You see, Latino Review’s source has stated categorically that Dylan O’Brien will not be cast as Spider-Man because, at the ripe old age of 23, he is too old! Honestly guys, you just couldn’t make this stuff up!
"I know the brave Reddit Warriors are talking about Dylan O’Brien but of the guy is 23 and already in a series, I doubt he’s the guy- and in fact casting will not begin for a number of months yet while Sony and Marvel cross the t’s."
Now this quote is what concerns me. He says he ‘doubts’ Dylan O’Brien is the guy but then goes on to say that there’s no way anyone can be the guy yet because Marvel and Sony haven’t even begun casting. So why is he only ‘doubtful’ Dylan O’Brien is the guy. Maybe all of this lies, filthy lies!
He does go on to suggest that Marvel won’t even be looking at that big of an actor anyway, what he’s been on like Teen Wolf, people know him! But instead the studio will probably get some relative unknown who’s much younger than 23 to play the part!
"New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role. The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter."
So there you have it. There are now two conflicting rumours on the internet about Spider-Man, neither of which are confirmed sources who actually know what they’re talking about, however only one has come from a website with some semblance of credibility and that’s the Latino Review source. Looks like Dylan isn’t Spidey after all!
