Drew Goddard not yet writer and director of Spider-Man but in ‘early talks’
By Daniel Wood
Drew Goddard is yo-yo-ing back and forth between being the writer and director of the jointly produced Marvel/Sony Spider-Man film. The Cabin in the Woods director was first linked to the job by a Latino Review article confirming he was already signed on, then Drew Goddard’s people indicated that he hadn’t even met with the studio yet so it was all poppycock!
Now it seems like Goddard’s involvement in Marvel’s 2017 Spidey flick is in a state of flux. He’s not writing and directing the film but he’s also not not writing and directing the film. I know, I’m as confused as you are! Several people are now reporting online that Drew Goddard is still very much in the frame, despite not already being the frame.

"UPDATE 3/2/2015 2:00 PM PT: Multiple outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline state that Drew Goddard is in “very early talks” to write and direct Sony’s next Spider-Man film, and that a meeting with execs will likely happen soon. THR noted that Sony declined comment on its story."
I’m sure we’ll be back soon to either confirm or deny, or speculate some more about Drew Goddard possibly taking the helm for the Spider-Man film. At the moment it’s definitely looking likely. Then again there is that Russo Brother deal looming in the background after all!
