By Nick Tylwalk
Anxious to see the further adventures of Will Arnett’s humorous, kind of jerky Lego Batman? You’ll have to wait about two more years.

Warner Bros. revealed its plans for the Lego franchise in general today, giving The Lego Batman Movie a release date of February 10, 2017. Chris McKay will direct from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith. The upcoming film shouldn’t be confused with LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite, a direct-to-video animated feature from a few years ago, but it probably will be.
Lego Batman ended up as one of the breakout characters from The Lego Movie, the critically acclaimed but Oscar-ignored movie from last year. Though he initially was Wyldstyle’s boyfriend, he ended up living the playboy part of his Bruce Wayne persona a little too enthusiastically. His ostensibly solo flick is certain to have plenty of cameos, and if The Lego Movie is any indication, it should be anything but a straightforward Batman adventure.
Also announced were dates for a Ninjago movie, which will release on September 22, 2017, and The Lego Movie Sequel, which will arrive on May 18, 2018. No word yet on whether Arnett will be needed to voice Lego Batman for that one too, but at this point, I certainly think it’s a decent bet.
