Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

In Iron Man 2 (2010), before Black Widow’s real identity as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is revealed, she gets close to Tony Stark with the fake identity of a Stark employee named Natalie Rushman (a combination of her Anglicized Russian first name of Natalia and the last name of the schoolteacher identity that resurfaced in the comics and fell in love with Spider-Man).

To keep her allegiance in Iron Man 2 a scecret, Kevin Feige had the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo edited out of Black Widow’s uniform for the teaser trailer.

A prominent theme in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) was trust.  In the film, we see Steve Rogers suspicious of Natasha Romanoff’s covert ways in the beginning.   However, their reliance on one another throughout the Project Insight event made them both the most trusted of allies.  A romance was slightly hinted at in the film, but in the end, if anything, it seemed like they developed a strong friendship.

Development work for a Black Widow solo film has already been completed.  However, Kevin Feige has gone on record saying that Black Widow’s role in the Avengers saga and the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe is very important.  Therefore, it’s key that they keep on track with the forward momentum that’s been built.

Join us tomorrow as we give some more quick facts in our on-going Avengers: Age of Ultron Primer series.
