Captain America to mentor Spider-Man
By Daniel Wood
Marvel fans may have Ant Man and Doctor Strange to pass the time, but the next big tentpole movie event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Captain America: Civil War which will see Tony Stark and Steve Rogers on opposite sides as Iron Man and Captain America. Oh, and Spider-Man will make his Marvel Cinematic debut too!

There’s been a lot of speculation as to how Spider-Man will fit into Captain America 3 given that it seemd Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther was going to assume the ‘caught in the middle’ role usually reserved for Spider-Man in the original comic book storyline. But now that Spidey’s back it’s possible that he’ll be the one caught between a vibranium shield and an Iron-Man suit, or a rock and a hard place.
This is something that both Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans seem to be be hinting when asked about Spider-Man on the press rounds for Avengers: Age of Ultron. We’ve already seen Downey Jr hint that Iron Man might appear in Spider-Man’s solo movie, suggesting that Stark Industries could fund Spider-Man’s activities.
And now Chris Evans has hinted to IGN that he’d love to see Captain America having a direct influence on Spider-Man, although he was significantly more vague and non committal than Downey Jr.
"“Sure, I like seeing Cap play mentor to anybody, you know what I mean? He’s been through so much, and I think he’s a good man, so anytime he can take anybody under his wing I think would be great. I hope Marvel pulls that off.”"
Can you see the cogs for Civil War turning already? Because I can!
