I really enjoyed the anime series Witch Hunter Robin when it first ran in the US on Cartoon Network about a decade ago. What’s that got to do with the upcoming Secret Wars tie-in series 1602 Witch Hunter Angela? Nothing, as far as I know, but the names were close enough that I couldn’t help but think about it.

Let’s get on topic here. 1602 Witch Hunter Angela #1 is set in King James’ England, where Angela and Sera make sure that their particular slice of Battleworld is kept safe from creatures and monsters of all types. They’re darn good at their job too, at least until they start running into people willing to bargain with ancient creatures for power. Or maybe the Robot Devil from Futurama, as he’s been known to do some deals.
Can Angela and Sera thwart this new threat, or might they be seduced by the same kind of agreement? You’ve got to read the book to find out, and writers Marguerite Bennett and Kieron Gillen and artists Stephanie Hans and Marguerite Savage certainly hope that you do just that.
1602 Witch Hunter Angela #1 goes on sale June 10, but why wait when you can check out five pages of preview action just by scrolling down right here? Exactly.
