It looks like Chris Pine’s days of being a cocky intergalactic hero are just starting.  The actor who starred in the rebooted Star Trek franchise is rumored to be the new Hal Jordan / Green Lantern for the DC Cinematic Universe.  According to Latino-Review, the original rumor that Pine was to play Wonder Woman’s love interest, Steve Trevor, was a misdirection by WB/DC.  In reality, Pine was in final stage negotiations for the role of Hal Jordan in a Green Lantern-centric film:

"The cool thing (in retrospect) is that it looks like WB was Kahning us JJ Abrams style with the rumor that Chris Pine was in negotiations to play Princess Diana’s love interest Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman. Pine was rumored to be a candidate for Hal Jordan way back when we realized Ryan Reynolds would never float in a green suit again, and the rumors of Pine circling Wonder Woman were actually Pine closing in on the role of Hal Jordan."

Well, with only two more weeks to go before Comic-Con 2015, these Green Lantern rumors will either be quickly proven true or false.  Because Marvel Studios will have no presence this year, WB/DC is seeing this as an opportunity to go all out.  The acceleration in casting for Green Lantern may be part of the studios’ plan in introducing all the major actors involved in the DC Cinematic Universe — leading to the formation of the legendary Justice League.

Of course, before we get into any Green Lanterns, the one movie to kick this all off will be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which has a United States release date of March 25, 2016.  It will be directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from a story by David Goyer and Zack Snyder, and will star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves, Holly Hunter as a United States Senator, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone / Cyborg, and Callan Mulvey, Scoot McNairy, and Jena Malone in unspecified roles.
