Suicide Squad: Will The Cast Need Therapy?

facebooktwitterreddit

It seems like everybody is really into their roles for the upcoming Suicide Squad. Jared Leto is so into being Joker that he is scaring fellow castmates and sending them bizarre gifts. But what if someone is getting just a little too into their role?

Suicide Squad director David Ayer is all about his cast being into their roles, according to Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the film:

"David Ayer is about realism. So if your character is tormented, he wants you to torment yourself. He wants the real thing."

But if somebody gets a little too into their role? Well there’s apparently professional help for that:

"We kind of have like a therapist on board if you fall off the wagon and really are villainous. There’s a friend of [Ayer’s] that’s very unique in making sure we have our ground."

We’ve definitely heard of actors going to a scary place mentally (and even sometimes physically) when doing a particularly demanding role. Will Suicide Squad warrant that kind of effort? I kind of hope so because then it might be one of he better films of DC’s upcoming slate.
