A couple of weeks ago, there was a strong rumor that Ben Affleck was going to direct himself in a solo Batman film. We can now confirm that not only will Ben Affleck be directing a solo Batman movie, but will be co-writing it as well.

Deadline is reporting that DC Comics Comics CCO Geoff Johns & Ben Affleck will co-write a solo Batman film, which Ben Affleck will also direct. This sounds like a fantastic idea as Johns seems like an ideal person to develop a Batman movie with, and Affleck himself is a highly acclaimed director.

No plot details or release date have been specified, but Affleck reportedly wants to finish his film adaptation of Live By Night (which starts filming in November) before anything really gets started on a solo Batman project.

I’m sure they’ll try and fast track it though once that gets done. We may see Batman in his own film by 2017 if they really want to get the movie out as fast as possible. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades for all the latest Batman news coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
