A new 3-minute behind-the-scenes video has the cast and crew talking about Kara Zor-El’s characterization for CBS’s Supergirl.

For the past few weeks, casting announcements for the freshman series have been coming in fast: Chris Browning cast as Reactron, Jenna Dewan-Tatum cast as Lucy Lane, Iddo Goldberg cast as Dr. T.O. Morrow, and Glenn Morshower cast as General Sam Lane.  The new series promises to be a modern retelling of the origins of the cousin of the greatest superhero of all time — Superman.  Slated as an action-adventure with drama and rom-com elements, Supergirl is CBS’s hope that they can also get a slice of the superhero-pie that’s been so dominant in the 21st century.

CBS’s Supergirl is set to premiere at a special time on October 26, 2015 at 8:30PM EST.  It will then move to its regular time slot on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 8:00PM EST.  The series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg, and will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers / Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.  Laura Benanti will having a recurring role as Alural Zore-El.  Guest stars will include Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Helen Slater as Eliza Danvers, Dean Cain as Jeremiah Danvers, Faran Tahir as The Commander, and Owan Yeoman as Vartox.
