The Flash: New Promo Features Jay Garrick

A new promo titled New Threats for Season 2 of The CW’s The Flash has Earth-Two’s Jay Garrick warning Barry Allen about new dangers that have come through the portal. Among that special appearance, we’re also treated to an action-packed spectacle of the Flash facing off with Atom-Smasher, played by WWE wrestler Edge.

During the Season 1 finale (Fast Enough), we saw the famous helmet fly through the wormhole. Though fans thought it was just an Easter egg, DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns announced at Comic-Con 2015 that Jay Garrick would appear in Season 2 of the hit series.

Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, Jay Garrick was the original Flash of the Golden Age. The character made his debut in Flash Comics #1 in January 1940. The initial characterization of Garrick had him as a college student who became a speedster after he inhaled hard water vapors. In the character’s 1960s reintroduction, he gained his superhuman abilities from exposure to heavy water. Garrick would later go on to become a charter member of the Justice Society of America, the first superhero team and a precursor to the Justice League of America.

The Flash Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 8:00PM EST.
