Yuri Lowenthal & Tara Platt are both veteran voice actors with tons of roles in animation & video games, but no strangers to live action roles as well. Yuri Lowenthal currently plays Red Robin in the Batman Unlimited animated series, but both he and Platt have multiple projects going on all the time.
Lowenthal mentioned that he got the role of Red Robin through auditioning for it like most roles, but he’s always wanted to play Robin in some form, so he can cross that off his “bucket list”. Like many though, his dream role would be to play Batman. Platt did point out he’s played Superman before (in Legion of Superheroes), but let’s face it, that’s not as cool.
Lowenthal also mentioned that he’d really like to play Marvel’s bipolar Caped Crusader, Moon Knight. Given that Moon Knight seems ripe for a Netflix series, this is something I’d really like to see. Lowenthal would actually be a pretty good choice for the role.
Finally, both Lowenthal & Platt admitted that since they’ve had so many roles, they can have trouble remembering characters when fan asks one of them to do a voice, but that’s what the internet is for! Often they just need to either look it up or get a tiny reminder from the fan and they can jump right back into character!
That wraps up our coverage of Dragoncon for 2015. We had a fantastic time at Dragoncon, and have already made plans to attend next year, so look forward to more coverage of next year’s Dragoncon as well. Are you thinking of attending one of the U.S.’s most popular fan conventions? Better start planning now!
