Back in July, we saw a low quality trailer leak for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. The trailer was meant to be exclusive only to Comic-Con attendees, but we all know how that turned out. In this day and age of digital media, nothing is safe from being bootlegged. 20th Century Fox then went on the offensive and had every site remove the trailer. As rough as it was, the footage was enough to generate hype and anticipation for the latest installment in the mega-franchise.
Today, via Heroic Hollywood, we’re learning that an official trailer may not be that far off. Rumors are pointing to our first look at director Bryan Singer’s masterpiece being attached to showings of The Martian which will be released on October 2, 2015 (October 1st if you’re like me and always attend the evening-before premieres). Knowing how past trailers have been released, the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer will most likely appear online first, making a visit to the theater moot, although Matt Damon’s stranded-on-Mars adventure film does warrant a viewing all on its own.
One of the strong pieces of evidence that the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer will be appearing soon is the fact that we’ve had quite a few image leaks this week. The low quality captures seem to be from someone editing footage for the trailer.
Stay tuned as we keep you posted about the first official look at the latest adventure involving our favorite mutants.
X-Men: Apocalypse has a planned release date of May 27, 2016 and will be directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris, and Michael Dougherty, and will star James McAvoy as Charles Xavier / Professor X, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkhölme, Nicholas Hout as Hank McCoy / Beast, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver, Oscar Isaac as En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse, Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe / Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers / Cyclops, Rose Burne as Moira MacTaggert, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler, Lana Condor as Jubilation Lee, Ben Hardy as Warren Worthington III / Angel, Olivia Munn as Betsy Braddock / Psylocke, and Lucas Till as Alex Summers / Havok.
