Well, for starters, he’s one of the Inhumans who’s been around the longest but is possibly the most mysterious. He’s also got an awesome and unique power that allows him to see the weaknesses or flaws in anything — people, structures, systems, you name it — which almost always gives him a way to defeat any obstacle put in front of him.
Even more intriguing is the creative team working on Karnak #1. Acclaimed writer Warren Ellis is joined by rising star Gerardo Zaffino on the interior art and superstar David Aja on the cover. If that doesn’t make you at least a little curious, I don’t know what to tell you.
Except maybe the high concept for issue #1, that is. Here it is from Marvel:
"But when Phil Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. request his help with a peculiar case, even Karnak may have met his match!"
I could certainly see Coulson needing Karnak’s “particular set of skills.” Hopefully Ellis keeps it weird, but something tells me that’s not going to be an issue with him.
Karnak #1 is on the way on October 21, but you can get a first look at what the Mad Monk has in store by scrolling down and checking out a couple of preview pages.
