DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2, Episode 17 Season Finale Synopsis: “Aruba”
By Steve Lam
This week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s Season 2 finale, the team tries to correct reality, but the consequences of that may be dire.
Last week on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow‘s “Doomworld” episode, the team found themselves in another reality where they served the Legion of Doom. However, they soon broke free and went on a mission to reattain the Spear of Destiny in order to put things back.
At the end of “Fellowship of the Spear,” Malcolm read from the Calebros and activated the powerful object—rewriting reality. In “Doomworld,” the Legends found themselves working for the Legion: Sara and Amaya were henchmen; Jax was middle-management; Martin was a subservient researcher; and Ray was a janitor.

What about Mick? Snart made a deal with the Legion, allowing Mick to retain his memories. And Nate? Well, in this reality, he’s sort of the same—a nobody who suddenly stumbles on some information that things may not be right (a reference to his introduction in “Out of Time“).
Meanwhile, Rip is trapped on the Waverider. With some motivation from Gideon, Rip gets to work to get a signal out to the rest of the team.
Mick, overwhelmed with guilt, teams up with Nate. They soon seek out Ray—who, for some reason, had an urge to build a Transreality Multiplexer. A “ray” gun (get it?) that could make people remember who they were in the previous reality. They soon use that to get the Legends back to their former selves—all except Martin, who freaked out and broke the Multiplexer.
The team soon learns that Eobard plans to destroy the Spear in a reactor, making this reality would be permanent. After a brief battle, the Legends are able to attain the artifact. However, the victory is only brief, as Snart blasts Amaya with his cold gun, shattering her to pieces and killing her. And Eobard ends up destroying the Spear in the reactor.
The Legends, defeated and grieving, form a plan to find Rip and use the Waverider to travel back in time to World War I France. They can then use the Spear, which was still in their possession, to defeat the Legion. As Rip sends out the signal, the audience learns that both he and the Waverider have been miniaturized—sitting on Eobard’s desk like a trophy.
This week, the Season 2 finale promises some epic battles and the Legends doing something they were told to never do—travel back to a time where they had previously affected history. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:
“Aruba”
"As the Legends are about to take off for their next destination, a massive timequake rocks the ship. In order to try and fix what has happened, they are forced to break the one cardinal rule of time travel. But if they are able to destroy the spear, they will face the ultimate consequence."
