First Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Takes The God Of Thunder Into New Territory
By Steve Lam
The first Thor: Ragnarok teaser has dropped, and it promises to be a rollicking good time.
Thor: Ragnarok has probably been the most stealth production effort in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to-date. Every piece of footage and photo has been a controlled campaign orchestrated by funnyman director Taika Waititi.
Today, Marvel Studios removes the sheath from this highly anticipated film and gives us its first action-packed teaser. Trust me, the wait was worth it. This is definitely not your father’s Thor … Or, should I say, “Not your All-Father’s Thor.” Sorry, bad joke. However, I can tell you what’s not a bad joke: this teaser!

It opens with the God of Thunder—in trouble and in restraints—taking a cue from Deadpool and breaking the fourth wall. As Thor takes the audience on a quick visual ride of what led to his current predicament (a scene showing his trusty not-so-rusty Mjolnir getting destroyed), “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin starts to play in the background.
We’re soon thrust into a full-fledged bombardment of action and fighting. And I have to say, the overall feel of it was quite Guardians of the Galaxy-esque—which is a good thing. Like all great movies, the hero gets torn down and brought to his lowest point. As our Asgardian Avenger reemerges, he sports a new haircut only to have it soon covered by (dare I say it?) a new helmet!?
The final stinger is the God of Thunder being forced to face off with the Jade Giant himself—Hulk. Oh, but wait, the two know each other from work. But I think someone forgot to tell the “ogre” that. Check out the amazing teaser yourselves and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
