Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is on the horizon. And that means character details will be slowly leaked to garner more interest in the film (as if that’s actually needed). But you know Marvel—anything to hype up the fans.
Today’s bit of hype news comes from the Twitter account of Stitch Kingdom. They were able to get their hands on the official Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast list and it finally reveals Sylvester Stallone’s role in the film. He’ll be Stakar—or better known as Starhawk. Stallone had this to say about his role:
Stallone isn’t the only veteran tough guy actor joining the sequel to the 2014 hit film. Kurt Russell, who audiences finally got to see in the latest trailer, will be playing Ego, Peter’s father.
Starhawk was created by writer Steve Gerber and artist Sal Buscema. He made his cameo debut in The Defenders #27 (September 1975). His full debut was in The Defenders #28 (October 1975).
The character is immensely powerful and can manipulate photonic energy, as well as create solid-light constructs. With superhuman strength and invulnerability, the character has fought one-on-one with the powerful Thor. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 marks the first time this character is seen outside of comics.
