What is probably the most exciting aspect of Ant-Man and the Wasp is that we’ll finally get to see Hope Van Dyne formally take on her superhero alter ego. Since her becoming the Wasp was teased at the end of Ant-Man (2015), most have wondered how far along she’ll be as a hero when we first see her. Well, it looks like she’ll be quite experienced when she first appears.
Peyton Reed recently spoke with Collider, and while revealing that the film begins shooting in June, he spoke in depth about the character. He confirmed that she will be in full form, and went on to explain what she brings to the story:
"“It’s something we’re excited about. For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and the Wasp as a team, and that’s a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting. We really get to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we’ve introduced the character, but we haven’t seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she’s not a supporting character in this movie. It’s every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s.”"
It’s clear that Reed is excited about introducing the Wasp and having her take center stage with Ant-Man. Of course, the latter is totally understandable, because as he mentioned, the two have always been depicted as equal partners.

It’s intriguing to think that this will be the first MCU film to be headed by a duo as opposed to a single hero or a team. With the two having to learn to work together and their apparent budding romance, it will be fun to see what the dynamic between them will be like.
Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
