Dragon Ball Super: Episode 96 preview teases Goku meeting Jiren

Dragon Ball Super’s Episode 96 preview shows the beginning of the Tournament of Power and Goku meeting Jiren.

Here we are folks. The Tournament of Power is finally here. Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga has been a real treat. Heading into the tournament, many storylines have been introduced—and many questions may finally be answered.

The recent episodes saw the return of Frieza. After Buu had dropped out of the tournament, Goku opted to select Frieza as the last member of Universe 7. This came with some backlash, as Universe 4’s God of Destruction, Quitela, opposed this. He tricked Sidra, Universe 9’s God of Destruction, into ambushing Goku and Frieza.

In the latest episode, we saw Frieza deal with Universe 9’s assassins with ease. In the process, he demonstrated his new strength by easily fending off the Energy of Destruction. When Goku had his guard down, Frieza used the Energy of Destruction on him. With Goku trapped, Frieza attempted to join Universe 9’s team, but was interrupted by Beerus.

For now, Frieza is still on Universe 7’s team, with him teasing a betrayal. This is just one of many storylines we’re eager to see play out. We can see a glimpse of what’s to come in Episode 96’s preview.

One thing that immediately jumps out from the episode’s preview is the introduction of Jiren. For a while, we’ve heard about this mysterious character and his great strength, yet we’ve never seen him in action. Goku and the fans will finally get to meet this Universe 11 warrior. How powerful is Jiren? Only time will tell.

We also saw Frieza speaking with Frost, who are practically twins. This will be an interesting interaction between the two. One can only wonder what they’re planning.
