MCU Phase Four rumors suggest New and Young Avengers

With Avengers: Endgame saying goodbye to the old characters, MCU Phase Four could open the door for new heroes like the New and Young Avengers.

Long ago, Kevin Feige took the lead  in crafting a shared movie universe featuring the Marvel superheroes. With the help of the Avengers, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was born, and it changed the landscape of cinema. Audiences saw the MCU take Marvel characters like Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow and turn them into household names.

So, could history repeat itself after Avengers Endgame in Marvel’s Phase Four? According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Endgame could signal a new beginning, featuring some new and young Avengers:

"“The MCU will be a very different place following [Endgame]… There are whispers going around about both a “Young Avengers” and a “New Avengers“, but it’s very possible those are the same thing.”"

The casting of actress Emma Fuhrman (who’s rumored to play an older Cassie Lang) in Endgame supports these many rumors. In Marvel Comics, Cassie becomes Stature after the passing of her father, Scott Lang (Ant-Man). Adding fuel to the fire is the casting of 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford.

As a matter of fact, the quietness surrounding Langford’s role has led many to believe she’ll play another Young Avenger, Kate Bishop. Moreover, Disney Plus’ Vision and Scarlet Witch series has fans wondering if we’ll see the West Coast Avengers, and more importantly, the birth of their children, Speed, and Wiccan — two other Young Avengers.

Of course, there’s the speculation of some Avengers kicking the bucket in Endgame. We know Spider-Man isn’t going anywhere based on the recent Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer. Plus, there’s the addition of Captain Marvel into the MCU and the inevitable inclusion of the X-Men. Of course, there’s also free agents like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and presumably soon to be Jessica Jones.

With so many heroes, there’s a chance we could see the formation of the New Avenger or, as Conrad mentioned, a combination of the young and new. Avengers: Infinity War marked the beginning of the end for the MCU’s Phase 3 with the snap, and Avengers: Endgame undoubtedly spells the end of the original Avengers as we know it. Avengers Endgame hits theaters April 26, 2019.
