Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger has been canceled by Freeform after two seasons.
Cloak and Dagger’s fate has been up in the air since the series finished its second season on Freeform back in April. Now, after months of waiting, we finally have an answer regarding the future of the show.
Variety is reporting that Freeform has officially canceled Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger after two seasons. The network had been mum on the show’s fate since it aired its season finale, which some viewed as a quiet cancelation.
The decision also follows the reports of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige becoming Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, taking the lead at Marvel Television in the process. This has also led to the departure of current TV head Jeph Loeb, who is expected to leave the company next month.

The young adult series centered on the characters of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson (played by Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph) who were both physically and mentally linked following an accident that gave them superhuman abilities as children. Set in New Orleans, the show delved into the pair’s comic book roots while adding in supernatural elements and social commentary. It also introduced characters like Detective Brigid O’Reily (Emma Lahana), who would later become the murderous Mayhem.
Although the show received generally positive reviews and built a fanbase, it was never a ratings hit for the network. This paired with the changes at Marvel TV made its cancelation almost inevitable.
Despite this, fans of the characters will get at least one more chance to see them in a crossover during the upcoming third season of Marvel’s Runaways. The episode will bring Tandy and Tyrone to California where they’ll team up with the titular heroes.
Cloak and Dagger’s demise is bittersweet but, but at least, fans will get another opportunity to see the two in action on the small screen.
